Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

TCM features Oscar nominated and winning films leading up to the ceremony. They kept me going in rehab last year.

I had a chance to drive by the "scene of the incident" yesterday. Holy devastation Batman! I'll try and get a picture, I couldn't chance it with all the chaos. There were already multiple road and lane closures for road work. Maybe I'll ride the Gravel bike down there for photos

It’s wet and misty out with rain coming in a few hours. I had to cancel today’s ride.

Several years ago, I was staying in Panama Beach and it was 50º. I bundled up for a bike ride and passed a small park where a guy wearing shorts and a wife beater t-shirt was waxing an old enormous Lincoln. I checked the plates as I rode by and they were Minnesota tags.

I totally don't get the shorts in cold weather thing. There just too many more comfortable ways to say "I'm a fool."

Campagnolo Ultra Torque bearings are pressed on to the crank spindles which are part of the arms. One bolt goes through the spindle to join the halves.

My friend had a 10mm Allen and I pulled it apart and soaked the bearing with WD 40 and forced it to turn with pliers. Seemed ok after that so I slapped it back together and we rode 45 miles with no issues. I suppose I should replace the bearing or something.

Weight back down today to a smidge below 145 - yay. Even had wine w dinner too (we usually skip on Tuesdays).

Day off work on PFL so it means more posting from me . Ton of stuff to do around the house, but I'm most excited about trying to find time to tune the suspension on my new MTB. SIL coming in an hour or so to visit and take care of baby, so that's my time to do personal stuff.

Also have a haircut and troubleshooting some home electrical on tap. But, my biggest chore on these days is trying to have more hands-on time with baby so that Liz gets a break.

oh - and we get to navigate our first homeowner's insurance claim, yay. Leak from under the upstairs toilet caused some rotting through the floorboard, and leaking onto the lower level. Abatement guys already gone, but now there is a floorboard to repair, plumbing to fix, drywall to replace, tile to re-do, and related cleaning when its all done. So much fun. I joked with Liz that we should just call the landlord to deal with it - those days are over

Ah, yes, like the first time the water heater core breaks and water goes everywhere, and YOU have to find somebody to replace it AND pay them!

Yeah, sucks. Brother in law is well connected around here (does HVAC) so we trust the plumbing and construction references - it's mostly the insurance claim that is new to use as homeowners (AAA)

Shorts on a sunny 50 degree day with a sweatshirt is sometimes very pleasant.
