Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What's the point of livin' in the big city if you can't walk to get a pulled pork sammich?

Neighborhood got too swanky since we moved here. The handful of cozy places have been replaced by a handful of more expensive, "fancy" options.

It's good. They were better a few years ago. They've changed their meat supplier or something and the burger and steak isn't quite as good as it was, but they have a huge selection of interesting burgers (like 50). I've only been to the Eagan location once (when they had the grand opening). I've been a regular there since they opened and we had them cater our wedding.

A choice of beers and burgers is a good bet for them. I shot out a text to see if they were aware of the place - if they hadn't heard of it previously, I'm sure we'll end up there sooner rather than later.

We went to the Lock and Dam Eatery right next to the bridge downtown (Hastings) yesterday. It's under its third name / menu change with the same owners now. It was too expensive when it was Italian only so we only went once, granted the food was decent. Next it was a Mexican place and we never went. Now it's a Italian/Mexican/American "theme".

We both got burgers which were okay. I felt they were light in the meat department, but otherwise fine. I could have made better.

We both got mixed drinks (they were out of Fulton Lonely Blonde on tap and the rest of the options were cider, IPA or cheap lager) and they were not great.

We shared an appetizer called a Bird's Nest which was two big rectangles of fried angle hair pasta with overcooked scallions nestled into them topped with a (tasty) pesto sauce. Not very exciting.

We likely won't go back again.

I would not call it big, but there is a space. It has some under floor storage nooks, a spot for removable rear glass and I think room to put the T-tops if it has not been consumed by speakers (mine has).

Storm missed Jefferson City, so I went racing.

Cat 4/5: 15th. Was a bit crap to be honest. Should have done better but then again I always say that. Last corner was a tight chicane and I got chopped so had to brake. After that it was not possible to regain enough speed for a good sprint. Should have been closer to the front.

M30+: This one started right after the previous one. Was a small field, maybe 10-12. They went super hard from the whistle and I got dropped pretty much instantly. Worked with two other dropped guys but one of them got dropped after a few laps and the other wasn't going fast enough. Decided to quit once we got lapped.

Commuted on the new bike today. So far so good, although I think it'll take some time to get used to the SRAM shifting. Not sure I ike it yet, but I do like having a brake lever that doesn't move sideways.

Empty space with three wells. One of which is shallow due to the battry being in it.

Thanks everyone. He was diagnosed with lymphoma back in December. The chemo decimated his bone marrow to the point it had to be stopped. Very low white cell count and he's FIV+. He's really not eating at all and is starting to show some odd behavior. Last night I found him laying down in his litter box but not actually using it. Then he "fake ate" from his bowl, lapping his tongue but not actually touching the food. He had a few nose bleeds a few weeks ago. There is a thought that the cancer has spread to his brain. No use doing an MRI since even if they found something there is nothing to be done.

The dashboard color appears to be a tribute to the vomit juice used in the Exorcist film that was quite contemporary with that vehicle.
