Some of the first foothills into the Cascades east of Seattle = Cougar Mt (1600’) & Tiger Mt (highest of the ‘peaks’ 3000’) and sorta in between there is another hilltop. If caught between a Cougar and a Tiger, don’t Squak much. So be it. ….or so a story said.

While the name lacks typical Swiss economy the bike is as fun as the name is lengthy. Had it less than a week so nothing meaningful to report on all those popular parameters, like range.

Essentially a gravel bike with TQ e-drivetrain, and those drive components total a hair over 8#, per the specs. Bike as set up here is 30# on the nose.

Three user-programmable boost options plus no boost if you're deadheading home or feeling guilty. Hills? We have none. Someday I shall try one. Handles like a better road bike and I have been at ease riding it beginning with my demo. These guys know how to design a bike.


IDK why the majority of e-bikes seem to be monochrome--big fan of visibility, which this has.

3 hour ride. Started in upper 40*s. Early Fall in the air. Smaller maples going yellow in spots.
Extra battery gives more range than I can test in a day, even on the higher power settings.

This is why I bought an e-bike, days like today. Up to the Rainier Natl Park’s Sunrise Visitor’s Center. Guessing 5000’ of elevation gain in the ride, more ‘climbing’ given all the ups and downs. About 45 miles.

Have done today’s ride before buying electric assist. Years later now, I can do it again … with a smile. And ride the day before and after with a smile. ~130 miles over 3 days.

I purchased this yard find for $60 (CL). The Micargi frame was prepared and painted (I don't name my bikes, but this may end up the Black 'n Blue Behemoth); cleaned and polished the chrome; and removed corrosion from the aluminum parts, then polished them. I hoped that either the cruiser or motor would be functional; turns out both were. Still work to do.

My first ever e-bike, just picked this up a couple weeks ago, and made a few changes already. I swapped out the stock 42t chainring for a 34t, among other things. I still need to install an Aeroe dry bag cradle over the front fender as I will be using this bike as a bikepacking rig as well. I already have a set of old Ortlieb panniers.
I also ordered shorter, 155mm cranks for my 29” inseam. I’ll be able to spin better.

Your camping is almost glamping. My wife and I have considered this, but I'm not even a big proponent of car camping, so reluctant. Her desire to ride MTB's (no "e") is another deterrent since possibly I would have much of the load on my bike.

I usually backpack or use my analog bike to bikepack to this trail camp. I wanted to test out my new e-bike on this trail since it requires over 1,700’ of climbing with 35 lbs of gear. I still wanted a good workout on this ride so I kept the motor off or only on ECO mode during the climbs. I liked the amount of pedal assist it provided even on the steepest sections, on ECO mode. Swapping the chainring from the stock 42 to a 34 made a huge difference, enabling me to stay on ECO….
And the only time I would even consider car camping is when we take our little grandkids with us…

Latest exercise in anti-boredom activity; bling from the bike box and a $200 direct drive kit from the e-giant. The rear wheel weighed 18 pounds, controller and other items in the kit two or three, and the bike 38. On the stand 34 mph, although I can connect two wires to keep it at 20 max. It's going to be harder than usual to hide the excess wires, so they'll need to be shortened.

This is the original version of my e-bike built in September 2017 - when my wife decided to leave the summer heat and visit friends in Seattle. Time for a project. :^)
I started with a $200 Iron Horse 3.0 mountain bike and a "1000 watt" ebay direct drive conversion kit. I was very curious about voltage converters and showed that they can work at e-bike powers. This converted my inexpensive 36v ebay scooter batteries to 48v. I eventually stopped using the converter because I'd blow a mosfet randomly - usually when it rained - even after going to many steps to protect the converter from water. Anyway, this was version 1 and it worked well if not perfectly.


This is where it is now having used this to commute to work routinely (32 mile roundtrip) for a few years and now using it as my near exclusive in-town transportation. I now have over 15,000 miles on this bike as an ebike. I added a 12V convertor to power a motorcycle headlight and other stuff. Rigged up a heavy duty rear rack. Put about 1200 watt hours of scooter batteries in two waterproof cases. Fenders. Lots of LED light on the seat stays and rack supports. 53 tooth road chainring and crank. 11 tooth on the new rear sprocket. Added USB power. Integrated an 8 amp charger into the bottom of the basket so I could charge where ever there was an outlet. Also added a robust two-leg kickstand.

Post retirement I've expanded the rack so I can pop an additional basket out the back. Got rid of the voltage converter (36 volt system now) and can now enable regen braking. Added a "dash" cam. Added a rear fork mount so I can tow a bike. Need to figure out a way to lower it for better stability. But it works fine for a lightweight bike like this 1984 Trek 770.

Haven’t gotten a lot of miles in Nov or Dec on any of my bicycles. That’s why having an e-bike makes it fun for a couple of hours riding, with a bunch of hard hills.

I recently received a refund from AliEx, along with rebates & holiday special pricing, I bought a $349 e-bike for free and just to find out how bad it would really be.
To my surprise, it was a decent ebike, no thrill, just plain, basic ebike.
350w motor, 3-level assist, 36V 7.8Ah battery, no throttle, just plain cycling.

With snow immanent, I picked up a Ride1Up 700 series from FB marketplace.. $500 with 331 mi. on odometer.

The top tube bag allows me to carry an extra battery for longer rides getting about 50 to 65 miles on each battery road, gravel about 40 miles per battery

Here is my Canyon Grail ON CF8 which I got in Feb 23 and have put just under 2K miles in 2023. Now that I'm retired I plan on many gravel rides and rides with the wife on her new EBike (no pics yet)

Thought I would never ride an EBike, but this is a blast on the road and off. Still keeping my other bikes to breakup the days riding.
