Speaking of gravel, a friend did the Belgian Waffle Ride, the 76 mile version. He finished strong and had a great time. 612 riders on the shortened ride. Lots of sand, he mentioned the sand, but lots of pavement, too.

Next change I want to make to the Holdsworth is R7000 shift levers. The 5800 on there work perfectly (thanks again Bah Humbug ) but everything else is R7000. No real reason to change other than having a matching groupset, but I think it would be worth it. The 11 speed Shimano just shifts so well I can't imagine wanting anything more. I have had the opportunity to play around with some 12s Ultegra though...the front shifting feels almost telepathic. So fast.
Oh, I also recently went from 48/34 x 11/32 to 52/36 x 11/32. It is a bit harder when things get steep and muscle memory is still adapting to shifting two cogs in the back per chainring change vs one, but the overall drivetrain feels smoother.

Okay, so what the R8000 will REALLY do will be to give me 3 more gears like I said, but 1 higher and 2 lower than I have now. The high gear will be the highest among all the bikes, and the low gear will be the second lowest.

That was us at the last month. It was terrible. Thankfully I never got the stomach bug, I just felt terrible for a week.

I've only used the tubeless versions but, assuming the same relative performance, I'd be looking at Schwalbe Pro Ones and Michelin Power Roads, with a slight preference to the Schwalbe (a little more supple). The new Pirelli P-Zero have also been good, a little less supple but really grippy, but I only have 1k on them and can't speak to robustness or durability.
