Mike Flanigan of ANT puts bosses on his fork crowns (but like you said, Justin, it's a custom bike). Crowns are so massive that it's safe to drill holes into them when designing a frame. I wonder why more frame builders don't do it?

My departed Kogswell included threaded bosses on the fork crown, but I never made use of them.

This is the best shot I've got on hand. Let me know if you want to see something else about it and I'll snap a couple pictures.

^ That's interesting. I've never seen fork crown boss there. The one's I've seen are on the top of the fork crown. Good luck finding a rack for that! Here's a Riv on the rack at my LBS. I know Nitto makes a rack for these mounts. The others I've seen were custom made on custom frames.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a photo of a Nitto rack of some sort mounted that way, but I can't find it now. I hope Rivendell knows since they put the braze ons there!

it's ok. Beech is the only one who got his feelings hurt here.

A touring bike is a bike purpose built for fully louded touring. Most of them can handle panniers , racks, lights, and are meant to cyclo tour self sustained cross country or what have you.

Edit?
You got the right forum in the C&V just not the right thread. However, that being said. That forke is clearly not the one that came with the bike. It does not look to be angled properly in my eyes from what I can tell in the picture.

I contributed to this thread yesterday and I feel I've contributed today. The guy's fork is bent so I let him know. But since you asked, here's a touring bike. Thanks again!

Here is my '82 Trek 614. (I bought it for a flip but can't seem to relinquish it.) It's the predecessor to the 620 with Reynolds 531, Cyclone II, Weinmann concaves, but no cantilevers and just one bottle cage. (I ought to find a Blackburn rack for it...)
