You do not have float glass. Did not exist 100 years ago. Any glass of any thickness will block near 100% of UV-B and UV-C. UV-A alone is not damaging your tires in any timeframe that matters.

Actually UVC is absorbed by the atmosphere, so you are left with UVB and UVA, and yes, glass absorbs almost all of the UVB light and let through about 75% of UVA. This assumes standard transparent glass with no coatings. Again, nothing to worry about unless the tires will be sitting there for years, and years.

good point! it’s from around 1915, not plate glass, so probably some sort of blown cylinder glass? in any case it’s uncoated, monolithic, only approx 1/8” thick and would pass for low-iron today.

i’m no longer particularly worried about it, but the light which comes through is quite effective at bleaching wood, fabrics, etc, and giving sunburns. so UV or not, i was curious what people thought the effects on tire rubber would be.

Sun doesn't help tires. Had my trailer spare blow up when I was standing nearby. Seeing as it's a snow tire it was probably from the 1970's, so it takes a long time sitting outside 24/7.
