Vintage Mondia Special - $1,200 (Scituate)

Vintage Early 1970's Mondia Special completely restored to its period correct state. Frameset is made with Reynolds 531 tubing throughout with beautiful ornate Nervex chrome lugs, chrome forks, seat and chain stays. A beautiful Campagnolo Nuovo Record Group throughout with Mafac brakes and Campagnolo bar end shifters, VO polished aluminum fenders and Mavic rims laced to Record Hubs. A French Pivo bar and stem along with a beautiful Ideale 2002 saddle. Frame measures 58c-c with a 57c-c top tube. This bicycle is one from personal collection. Spectacular in person. Many details that the pics do not reveal. All reasonable offers considered. Will ship out of state and Paypal, Venmo is accepted. Feel free to call or email for additional details or questions.
Yep, very pretty, but still $$$$$ to me.

Seems like most any "vintage" bike like this ends up at $1200 or such, needs to be early 60's in this kind of shape or a very coveted brand, Cinelli, Masi, Colnago, Bianchi, Merz, etc. at this kind of pricepoint IMO.

And yes I know the ones I listed are on efbay for more than this, that's the problem, efbay skews reality for too many sellers.

Found a Belgian seller with a load of cool vintage and NOS stuff. Not cheap, but lots of rare items.

I do not recognize the eBay seller's handle ("zairebunia") but given this huge stock and location I wonder...could this be the famous (infamous) Baron Corpuz (and or his wife) re-located again to Benelux after bouncing from Santa Paula and Santa Barbara? He may not be the only guy (or gal) in Europe to be selling so much vintage cycling gear, but...he/she sure has a history of it.

What made that seller Infamous? Definitely not the only one. I occasionally come across French sellers that have enormous amounts of vintage gear, selling at a premium. This one is modestly premium in that regard.

I’d hate to be that guy, but where’s evidence to help reassure me these are all NOS parts?

These sellers have some of the most raaaandom NOS inventory. Stuff that you could find an old box in moms garage, and put a new coat of paint over a bash guard calling it $1K NOS...

Sorry to be a sceptic. Looking through some inventory, I find it hard to believe.

I don't think so, but perhaps. I have his eBay handle recorded as "cyclebits2015". Here's a query for his stuff on ebay.nl.

Colnago Master 53cm - $1,350 (Needham)

Mid 90s Colnago Master. 53cm with Tange Superlight crimped steel tubing. 8speed Campagnolo Avanti groupset. There are two areas of imperfections and both are in pictures. There is a scratch on the seat tube in the blue paint and also some scratches along the top tube. Otherwise, the frame is in beautiful condition - the chrome lugs, fork, and chainstays shine bright as new. The bar tape is new - I wrapped it myself after removing the yellow/blue camo that was on it before. The bike is just a bit on the small side for me.

I'm going to guess the ad is old, since the picture has green leaves on the trees. It's a gorgeous paint job.

Only insofar as he's the guy a lot of us in the US first saw as the online seller of vintage cycle gear. He and his (I think Belgian) wife first sold via ebay from Belgium or NL, then he moved the family, with shipping containers full of goods, to SoCal where at one point he had a physical shop in Santa Barbara (before we ever called them "brick-and-mortar", unless they actually WERE). His sales performance was very "erratic", there's a hundred stories but so much is ancient history, now. Eventually he or his wife almost always finally came thru, in the end, and often "made good" by including extra items, gratis, to calm the nerves of frazzled customers. I never had anything like a "bad" experience buying from him, but there were some times...I had to wonder...
Edit, I had a few scattered memories after posting and so...before they had any presence on eBay Baron and (was his wife named Marie?) conducted online sales by promoting them via the CR list, at least that's where I first encountered him. Then they had a website...ebay selling came along later. I remember sending US Postal Money Orders, not private checks.

The items that jumped out at me on the first page of my link was the Cambio corsa front hub and the Cinelli steel stem...pretty. The Rito seatpost is shiny and the 3TTT seatpost is gorgeous but a bit scary...I have never seen that model.

The Vigorelli cleats are beautiful. Just a single size too small.

Great value and underrated in my humble opinion. Hope someone here grabs it and gets some miles in on it!

Someone beat me to it. My size too! My son in SF contacted the seller, was told it was still available, asked where to meet, and heard nothing. Listing now says “sold.”

These are classy looking machines if you get a good one - flat (very) crown with sharp edges, very tapered stays, Nervex lugs, no braze-ons for anything, and, of course, ORANGE!!!
I ended up buying this very nice Crescent. Really clean bike with some great parts on it. I have a soft spot for them, as one was my first racing bike in about 1979. Right after I bought it, the seller updated the ad with photos of a different Crescent. It appears she was given two of them by a family member.

Listed as a 62 Basso Gap. Not an expert on the models, Cinelli BB shell, Shimano components. Willing to sell frameset it appears. Get ready to negotiate I guess, no real price. Good luck!

Waterford 1200 Frameset - $250 (Mukwonago, WI)

"This is a 1996 model 1200 frameset made by Waterford Precision Cycles right here in good ol' Wisconsin USA. This was around Waterford's 3rd year of making frames so kind of a relic and pretty rare. It is a 58cm frame with Campy headset and bottom bracket. 753 steel tubing. Has some rust but can be touched up.
Also included are two 27.4mm seatposts which this requires and are rare and hard to find. Everything is 27.2 now.

I was going to build it up but it is a touch too small for me."
