Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Uh-uh. Wind it up folded in half starting opposite the valve but pausing occasionally to push the stem and let the accumulated air out. Then close the valve, cap it and rewind folded in half starting at the valve. It's pretty easy to get them as tight as a new tube when you get the hang of it.

In bulk from alibaba con mis amigos.

Bulk/ bulk packaging is the key word here. Who needs the box anyway?

Good call on Pricepoint, Jenson and AliBaba. I wouldn't check on these sites since I don't shop at those sites.

Thanks.

My rule on patching is 1-2 patches per tube. Then I replace with a new tube. Too many issues with a patch failing (due to handling), or a bad valve to bother trying to infinitely reuse a $5 tube.

I typically buy tubes 3-4 at a time and stick them on a shelf. When I put the last new tube in saddle bag, I'll get more when convenient.

I get tires, tubes, and misc other items from Ribble in the UK. Great prices and very reasonable shipping, free over $100. Shipping time to the US can vary from less than a week to rarely three+ weeks due to things getting hung up at the US port of entry.

If your patching jobs are failing, then you need to learn how to patch better.

Regardless if you pay $3 or $7 a tube, a 10 to 20 cent patch job is much less expensive.

I have tubes with as many as 15 patches before the valve stem fails. Cost to me is $5 tube + $3 max patches = $8 for me and $25 to $40 for you.

In the past month I've missed the hole with the patch twice. I'm going to have to put a pair of reading glasses in the garage. Getting old sucks.

Speaking from experience, these are horrid. Lots of bad stems. I will never get these again.

+1 on pricepoint.

However, I have found that really old tubes will dry rot and crack at the corners. I don't know if I've had this on factory new tubes, but I have seen it on used-patched-tightly coiled tubes.

Not mentioned here, though not always available online, there are fairly regular sales from Performance Bike where their house brand Forte tubes are only $3.
