During the summer, always mornings when it's a lot cooler out. Afternoons are out during the week because I'm working, but evening rides during the spring and fall are not out of the question.
I would, but my wife works some 15 miles away from me, and there's not enough time for us to get together.
I’ve decided to split the difference and go for a nooner.

Right? There's something about having my house repossessed and then seeing my kids starve in an alley that I dislike enough to make me keep my job. But it sure cramps my style for biking.

When I rode for 25 mins. it seemed like forever. My fitness was ok, but I think I was randomly riding a small loop around the neighborhood had me wanting to go home at every turn.
To reach an hour, I'll need to find a longer single loop that will not give me the option of bailing out. Kind of like running laps. How do you deal with the sheer boredom of cycling long times like an hour ?

I do 6-9 hour round trips, usually by figuring out how far I want to ride that day and picking a destination half that distance away. I can't stand riding in circles. I find if I have a sense I'm going somewhere it becomes inherently interesting to get to the goal. Getting home is it's own incentive.

I'm curious what how much you cycle slutz from hell ride in a given week.
My goal for the Fall is to reach one hour ride.
- Do you do a few short rides and one long ride?
- 2 long rides? Weekend warrior.
- Daily 15 min ride? Commuter.
My goal for the Fall is to reach one hour ride.

I generally do 400km+ per week. This week, 515km (320mi), elevation 5274m (17303ft), average 30km/h (18.6mph).
15659km (9732mi) this year so far. Fortunate to live in a place where I can comfortably ride outdoors all year round.

Mine?
-look at family schedule and weather forecast and make plans
-storms or BS first try at outdoor ride, ride inside
-do team cross practice, storm and soaked and so muddy had to cleanup shoes in a bucket of water
-95 degrees outside but family time was when it was nice out early in the am
Rinse, repeat.

depends
when working (school teacher), try to ride in the afternoons 15-25 miles daily, but rain or having to cook supper will stop that
summers 30-35 miles a day most days, first thing in the a.m. Rain will occasionally get me
have discovered that for me 500 miles a month is best, so I try to hit that number. I have been 900 a month and that's too much for me, less than 500 and I feel more miles are needed. Don't always hit 500 during school, but try. Low light and cold in December and January I'll take more days off

My fifteen miler took about about one and three-quarter hours today with a brief conversion at a park overlook. I should add this is an urban ride with both stop signs and unprotected cross-streets - meaning caution.

typical week for me is one longish ride on the weekend - typically sunday morning, anywhere from 40-80 miles in 3-6 hours.
i try to go three days during the weekdays, usually one or two 15-25mi dusk rides after my youngest is in bed, and one or two 15-30mi lunchtime rides from the office. weather here is generally good for riding year round, so it's more a question of time and energy. 15 miles or more either monday or tuesday will make august my biggest month yet, beating may which was 520 miles total.

I only do short rides now days, but they are fun, interesting, and have a good mix of fast downs and mostly very slow ups. I have about 10 different routes and mixes just off my driveway. They have very little traffic and a few well paved roads but are mostly old torn up asphalt so my bike set up kinda gravel-ly. Here in Central Texas there's allot of sun so as long as its dry and the temps above 55°F I am out for a short ride every day. I do not ride in slippery weather or when its dark.
So its 5 miles every day and 7 to 10 miles three times a week.
Even though I am retired and not seeing patients because of covid I still find it hard to commit more time to ridding. I wonder how I got any ridding done when I was working full time... Ha

I'm retired and I was riding 6-7 days a week. Around 25-32 during the week and longer rides or group rides on Sat-Sun. My daughter just graduated nursing school and started work and her and my cheating idiot son in law (they have four little kids) just separated and he moved out. She works 12 hour shifts and I'm the full time babysitter. Today will be my 4th day in a row babysitting for 13 hours. This is starting to suck

I know you don't care what I think, but that's really good of you to step up for her and the kids like that. Sorry the jerk father is putting everyone through that.
Hope you don't need to get one of those multiple-kid carrying cargo bikes just to keep your legs moving.

Weekdays I do a short 30min ride before work. Weekends I try to do rides over an hour. Over 2 hours when I have time. Usually over 80 miles per week.

2 hour rides 3 or 4 days a week. A long ride on the weekend if I can fit one in.

To answer the OP's question, I ride every morning for about an hour. It's a great way to start the day, and gets me in just the right mood to head to the office and deal with the idiots there.
Of course my ride takes me on roads and trails full of idiots, I just don't know their names. My life is just one continuous interaction with idiots. Geez...I wish I was in another simulation, this one is too frustrating.

I shoot for 5 days in the morning before the kids get up and work. I try to get 40-50mi each morning. If the weather is going to be bad I ride 40-50 on zwift. Sometimes if I push too hard early in the week I need to take thursday and do a Z2 ~20 miles .
