It was supposed to start raining around 10:00 this morning but we rode until noon and not a drop fell. We saw our now retired LBS guy, well, LBS guy for three of us, as he was running on the bike path. I haven't seen him in 3 years, since he sold out his store. I was a customer of his for 30+ years but I only rode bikes with him a few times. He was an ultra runner for years and never really rode that much, anyway.
Anyway I was very happy to see him and he promised we would all ride together soon. We'll see.

30 hours after going off my meds I'm beginning to feel alive. That was quite the short-lived cold. I must be doing something right.

Aluminum wheels are all set up.
Went to Richmond today to spend one last day with the wife before the new offspring arrives. I let her do some shopping and then she surprised me at a bike shop. Asked me what I wanted. I said aero bars for The Ritchey and the C2. Shop had both.
The cervelo carbon bars have a little flare, but it’s nothing too extreme and the price was right.

I've come to appreciate the flare on my gravel bike bars (not weirdly extreme like some). On a road bike, I could see how narrow hoods would be nice for aero rolling, and wider drops would be good for handling on descents and sprinting. The carbon bars on my gravel are pretty compliant, which is nice for gravel, but way softer than I would want for a road bar. 38 on the tops and 44 in the drops would be perfect for me on the road. I like it wider than that for gravel, however.

I think mine is less than that.
I honestly didn’t even notice the flare initially. Says they are 42, but i think it’s 40 up top 42 on the bottom.

U-Haul sucks donkey nuts.
My son needs to move to Dallas by Saturday. Weeks ago I reserved a truck with U-Haul and hired an unloading crew through it, and paid for the crew in advance. Scheduled the truck to pick it up tomorrow in College Station. The crew is on tap for Thursday. Today I got a call to tell me that the truck will be available 50 miles south of College Station and not in CS. That adds almost three hours to the trip. SMFH.
Now trying to find a different truck, even if I have to drive it to CS. It’s as bad as the Southwest Airline f’up.

Speaking of Southwest, my cousins were in Tampa (where I was supposed to be) and Southwest can’t get them back to Baltimore for the foreseeable future. They are taking an Amtrak 21+ hours back Thursday at $1.6K each!
No one told Southwest the world has moved on from DOS? Do they still use dot matrix printers and print to green bar? I’ve avoided them like the plague and am glad I have.

Have used both in the past for college moves. This is the first time I’ve had this happen.
I have a Penske truck reserved in CS that they say is guaranteed. But, my wife and son went to the pickup spot to confirm that they will have the truck in the morning, but there is only one in the lot that has been assigned to another customer. They said they are hoping that three that are scheduled to be dropped off today will be returned. The last thing I want to do is drive down only to find no truck.
And, the Penske rental is a smaller truck, and the price is more than double the U-Haul reserved price. Don’t like it, but will pay it to get this done.

JetBlue had always been great to fly on for me, but their quality of service is inverse to their growth. They’re no better than any other airline now and I can’t imagine what their purchase of Frontier or Spirit is going to do to them. I’m going back to flying Delta or AA.

SW’s problem in all this is it’s point-to-point system. When one flight fails, the rest domino more quickly as compared to a hub system.
