Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not always. I spent a few minutes trying to find why they are deforesting a section along the Brown Squirrel loop. No luck.

I did find the listing for the lot next to the Brown Squirrel. Investment opportunity!

Two reasons, I think - the last time I did a ramp test on Zwift, I concentrated on chasing down other riders, rather than the discomfort or wondering how long I'd last, or how soon I could stop(which is probably exactly the wrong attitude!), so I need a distraction other than the promise of more pain in the immediate future, as represented by the ramp and the numbers.

The other thing is, I really think I need the kind of warmup time trialists do, where you push hard enough to drive your heart rate up at least to the range you expect to hit. From previous experience, it seems like the first time I build up to 170, if i go there gradually, I feel distinctly unwell, whereas if I've pushed up to that range quickly at least once, I barely notice it. SO, my warmup should include a couple hard efforts to push my HR into the high 160s if not the low 170s while also not burning all my matches.

So, does anyone know how to set up to run Zwift and Systm at the same time? Can they both read power off the trainer, HR and cadence, but without controlling the resistance on the trainer, while Systm reads the same things but also controls the trainer?
A ramp test for 4DP? Huh, weird. I'd just do the Full Frontal and HTFU. It has a good warm-up with primers to kick the tires, then it jumps in to the sprint tests to light the fires. Yee haw.

If you had a power meter in addition to a smart trainer, and two computers/tablets/phones, I'm pretty sure that you'd be able to do what you propose, but I think you're out of luck, otherwise.

Fun fact: The Brown Squirrel is not within the city limits of the City of Knoxville.

If you wanna relive the good ol' days before the Brown Squirrel and before the Dead Horse Lake Golf Course, this is how it looked during the Summer of Love

Yeah, it's weird. There's a ramp, but then there's a TWENTY MINUTE segment where you are supposed to maintain your HR in a narrow range, in my case 144-150 bpm. AND you have to pause the game and turn off Erg Mode. Since I used to train exclusively with HRM, that was pretty simple. I did switch back and forth between two gears, one that I had to spin at 94 rpm and the other that I had to do 100.

If you had a power meter in addition to a smart trainer, and two computers/tablets/phones, I'm pretty sure that you'd be able to do what you propose, but I think you're out of luck, otherwise.
Yeah, that was my discovery - that while the Ancient Laptop can run both at the same time, it won't allow both apps to access the same ANT+ device.

As luck would have it, though, The Younger Boy is finally getting a new computer, so he's giving me his old one, so I COULD set that up for Zwift and run SYSTM on the laptop. Not sure it will all be ready before my 14 day free trial ends, though.
