Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oh damn, I didn't think they had a chance, good for them. I watched Klay Thompson and the Warriors light up Milwaukee instead.

I watched a documentary on the last 72 hours before the plane crash that ended Lynyrd Skynyrd. Then I watched a review of Led Zeppelin's 1975 Album Physical Graffiti.

My wife has consented to ride our CoMotion tandem this afternoon. I don’t know why, but I look forward to these. Maybe because she can’t drop me. Hmm…

Just finished what I am hoping is my last fake ride of the season. Weather forecast for next week is looking springlike. I will hedge and not cancel Zwift subscription for another couple of weeks.

I thought that a week or so ago, but alas. I was on the trainer yesterday and true warm weather is still a ways off.

I guess I'll go out and get this snow removal over with. Only looks to be 3 or 4 inches.

Confession:

I've been binge listening to Steely Dan lately. I've always liked them but unlike some other artists I've never binged them.

Slide back Sunday. Driving home from the 1995 Seagull Century in Salisbury, MD. My traveling companion wanted to stop for pumpkins. Saw Hercules lapping up dew.

Just shy of 58 miles. Beautiful day for riding, though I could have used a bit less breeze in a couple places. Not too bad, though. Certainly not as soul-sucking as the summer afternoon NW winds.

I ran out of Brawndo Skratch Labs Hydration Mix, so I just drank water, which isn't a problem when the temps are like this, but in the summer I'd be in dire straits. And not the good Dire Straits, with Mark Knopfler on guitar, either.

So, it needs to be asked - are you, in fact, reeling in the years?
