Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Still good riding out here in November, and new tarmac to boot. This was gravel a couple months ago.

Full disclosure: I wasn't on my bike for this. This was the start of a hike. But I've ridden this section of road, and you should too.

Yeah I'm a motorcyclist and have ridden the Dragon/NC Smokies a couple times - I've developed some nice twisty routes locally, but you can only shine $h*t so far

And that looks like Hawks Nest Rt97.

To be honest though, I'd be terrified riding a bicycle on some of these good twisties.... you can't appreciate the cornering G's at a bicycle pace yet you get plenty of car/motorcyle enthusiast whipping around you that can!

Strait Road, Lulworth, Tasmania Australia.

Actually on an Army Live Firing Range though the locals assure me they have had a live firing for a LONG time.

Leads to the Bass Strait the stretch of water that separates Tasmania from mainland Australia.

5 kilometres of straight, gravel road. A hoot on the right bike!
