Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm retro enough to be good with wires. But of course, it's about the rim brake set being compatible with the maximum number of existing frames. However, since there are many wired/ disc frames out, I'm not sure what they're expected to do - if wireless doesn't go into wired frames, they're screwing recent purchasers. If wireless can go in, which would make sense (just cover the holes...) why not make them all wireless?

You like the frame that much? I am also considering going electritional, but figure it makes more sense to wait until I want a new bike, which is to say shortly before I tell LSS I’m serious about retiring.

Whew, sounds like a localized event. Wouldn't want a blackout in the big city

I do like it. It’s custom geometry so fits perfectly. That said, the Roubaix fits almost as well and has internal cables so I am sure I could learn to live with that. No decisions this year anyway, so lots of time to consider options. You may recall I was even considering Campy Chorus. SRAM eTap also an option but so expensive and the budget Rival Etap is disc only I believe.

Few people really grasp probability. 20% means there's a 1 in 5 chance. Things with a 1 in 5 chance happen every day.

I believe power companies tend to work by the rules that Scotty explained to Geordi LaForge - "Tell him it'll take 3 times as long as you know it will, and he'll think you're a genius!"

Also works.

A long time ago, when I built my first bike, I tried the various chain measuring methods. I found that they all yielded the same length chain.

We're in the middle of a severe thunderstorm at the moment with hail and high winds. Outages are being reported in the area for both electric and cable. We have a whole house generator so that's not a problem for us if the power goes out. The vast majority of houses have basements and sump pumps so loss of electricity is major for many people. Besides our generator, we have two sump pumps, a main one and a secondary.

Same.

50/34 with an 11-28 cassette. I use all of the gears on most of the rides.
