Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My observation is that fair food is never as good as you expect it to be. Except funnel cake, which is better.

Dunno, man. I can't really get used to the idea of chartreuse. I'm having enough difficulty with the "Saffron" long sleeve jersey I bought. It just seems so...visible.

I hear you. I have a couple of very old hi-vis jerseys, but I never wear them. Just can't.

I do have a dark red jersey, but that's about as far as it goes. Otherwise, I blend in with things pretty well.

Tuesday ride went ok. Felt pretty crappy at the end and I think it's the anti-biotics I've been taking since the oral surgery. It's pretty hot again and it's supposed to be over 110 this weekend.

We've had an exceptionally temperate Spring and Summer here in the Bay Area - very few days even in the 90s on the Peninsula. But it looks like Fall is starting off hot.

(Yes, I know. Summer officially doesn't end till the Equinox, but here, September and October are our hottest months. It's a different season from Summer)

September is often the hottest month here.

On Wordle today I got all 5 letters in the second word, all in the wrong spots. First time that happened.

Same start. Same result. I suspect we used a similar (or the same) starting word.

Last time I was in SF, it was in the 100s. Fortunately, the hotel was air conditioned, but a bunch of restaurants we went to weren’t.

Yes, it was in September.

I only wear hi-viz. And I only ride alone. I don't want to give anyone the excuse that they didn't see me. True, it took some getting used to. But so did wearing spandex again, and they both occurred around the same time frame.

In my experience, coming from Sacramento, September and October are the only warm months in SF.
