20 miles today - a relatively relaxed and flat route along gravel paths most of the time. Recovery ride stuff after beating myself up last weekend.

17 miles this evening. Cooling off nicely in the park, but got hit with a ton of bugs.

24 miles with 3500' of gain. About 2500 of those feet come in one little 6 mile climb. It's a loop I regularly do, although I did the short version of it today. I can make that climb 9 miles with another several hundred feet of elevation if I want to...I'm planning a big gravel ride tomorrow with a friend, so took it easy today.

Took a short ride with the wife on Monday for 18 miles. Her first ride on the outside in a while, her body does not handle the heat well so avoids it, but Monday was pretty comfortable over all, we just putz along at 12 mph on the rail trail which was nice as I was not feeling well. The rest of the week I felt like I got hit by a truck. Today was the first day I felt human and did 48 inside with 500 ft of climbing. It was really hot outside, so did not want to press my luck. Legs felt good, so going to shoot for 40 to 50 tomorrow outside.

25 miles, 1,300’ and one fastest for age group on 1.25 mile segment.

Used 60mms rims front and rear and on a 1 mile descent at 6-8% today. I was cruising along at 45 MPH when a box truck doing about 40 MPH uphill upset the airstream suddenly throwing me into a high speed wobble. I was able to slow it down as the wobble became more pronounced just before I stopped. The hill’s speed limit is 35 and there was a car behind me (thanks Varia) the whole time. When I got out of the lane, which I took on the way down, to the shoulder, the car creeped past me making sure I was alright. Upon stopping, I tightened my through axels since I just had the wheels off two days before. Ihave been down this hill several times at speed with no issue and no box truck. May have to switch to a 32mm front on hill climbing days when I know there is a descent faster than 40 MPH. Wonder if anyone else has had this happen?

I've had that happen before on my bike with the 50mm wheels. It's always air related for me...there's a couple of stretches of local downhills that are wind sheltered and I can feel rock solid doing 50-55mph down them. Some of the Sierra passes, the crosswinds have induced speed wobbles on that same bike/wheels. I had a scary one this year, I was probably doing 50ish when an unexpected gust put me into a wobble. Even clamping the top tube with my knees didn't stop it, it only kept it in control enough to allow me to slow down to almost a stop.

interesting it happened to you as well. Looks like a lower profile front rim for fast downhills is in order. Glad you got out of it. Don’t know why the manufacturers don’t allow us to mix and match sizes.

35 miles, I waited for it to warm slightly before leaving, 58F this morning. 9 am start. A neighbor trapped me in a conversation right as I was getting ready to leave.

12 mile shake down cruise for the rain bike. Monday is the only day I can ride to work this week, and there is a 70% chance of rain in the morning. I haven’t ridden my rain bike in quite a while, so I tuned it up and took it out to the rail trail.

When I was working in an office, I would commute on my bike most days and would typically leave my house around 2 am. It was a 7 mile commute, did not take me long, but I was working some stupid hours at that place, so this was the only way I could get some miles in.

I went out early today, started about 8-ish to beat the heat as I was still not feeling 100%, was only planning 40 or so, but I got over taken by a large group ride, so I just tag on if nothing else to get out of the mild but really annoying 8 mph headwind. They were doing about 22 mph and just dragged me along for the ride, it made for a fantastic recovery ride so to speak. Once I got to my original planned turn around spot, I said screw it and kept going. Ended up doing 82. Luckily they stopped at some gas stations along the way, so I could refill with water and get some carbs, since I had not planned that long of a ride, I was not fully stocked with food, gel or anything for 82 miles. Gummy bears and a couple of bottles of coke were my friends today. Feel really tired now, but it felt good getting out.

Only 2 miles today lol...it was a little recovery spin/visiting some family on one of my mountain bikes. I'm closing in on 15 hours of rolling time this week, my legs needed the day off today.

A neighbor and I have formed a cycling club:

We call our club (Our County name) Cyclers Anonymous.

The purpose of the club is: When you feel the urge to ride over 10 miles, call another member who will come over and drink margaritas with you until the urge passes.
