TP is a fantastic race. It is my favorite race at the track. Although, team sprint is also a lot of fun.

Getting hot here in UT. Rode to/from work this morning and afterwards. Linked up my ride home with the tuesday group ride which was a hammer fest. Fast (35+mph acceleration from a stop sign with no wind at one point) and hot makes for a hard ride. Good times, almost made it to the end with the winners but screwed up a bit tactically on the last False-flatty climb of the day. So I came in with the first group behind the two leaders which is more than I thought I would after it started to heat up.

193 TSS in 3 hours isn't bad for a weekday!

Highest w/kg for 10 minutes (4.5), and that's overcooking the first minute (also a pr) and a pegged HR the whole duration on a relatively inefficient climb so I think I can do better. Sadly, I cracked hard on the last climb and had really bad calf cramps. I haven't been doing a lot of rides where I can parse out a solid 20 minute effort, so 10 minutes is my base marker for fitness.

If I had this fitness last weekend, maybe I wouldn't have embarrassed myself and maybe even got a result. It's amazing what a positive TSB can do for you...

I'm firmly in the belt and suspenders camp. I carry both CO2 and a tube plus a frame pump and patch kit. Been victimized by the multiple flat gremlin too many times.

To be fair, a lot of it had to do with positioning as well (i.e. not being at the tail end on the first hill).

At the end of the day, this just puts me up to where I should have been. Its nothing special or impressive and there is still a lot of work to do.

I need to focus on getting my FTP back up, the lungs just don't feel like they're 100%. CTL is at 70.
Good progress..atleast

more sweet spot, 3x20 (90, 94, 92%). wasn't really thinking about road racing after my recent demoralization but I might think about doing Sunday's event here, even though I won't be totally fresh for it

Wait so you hit a minute PR and then held the effort to get a 10 min PR? Whoa

Best thing to do is get back on the horse and keep grinding away....although if 'won't be totally fresh' = dead legs I would either go in with low expectations or don't bother.

To be fair, my 1m power was awful (425w) and clearly in the 'untrained' section of the Coggan Race Chart. I bumped it up to 467 (Cat 4) which isn't impressive either. When I say I'm awful at this sport, its not tongue in cheek but at least there is a fixable (I hope) reason.

My left leg uses the hamstring muscles instead of the glutes which kills efforts between 10s to 2m. The high end stuff doesn't seem to suffer as much. I've been really focusing on fixing it which is not easy since its been a subconscious issue for years. Last night I was more bio mechanically correct; efforts feels much easier. Hopefully the changes shore that up and give me a bump in the long spectrum of the curve as well.

Commuted to/from work today. Got Cat6'd by a guy way in the middle of no where who didn't even say hello until I (slowly) caught back up to him. He flew past me then faded so hard...

2hrs with 3x30 @ 90%(although the 30mins had some 30sec-1min breaks), the last 10mins were brutal, which is surprising given how well I do sweet spot. My basement had gone from 65 to 77 during the course of the workout, so I think that may have something to do with it.

I was doing 3'+3's on the ARBT one morning and kept catching up to this one guy and then I'd sit up and he'd pass me. I could tell he was ramping it up and I finally had to say, "Dude, I'm not racing you. I'm just doing intervals."

This dude was commuting. But next time I'll cut him more slack in my imaginary battle.

Today was just an easy hour. Thought I might have enough to do some intervals today, but still pretty tired and some long days of work this week meant I needed an extra day.

Working a bunch of overtime this weekend (20 or so hours) so I'm hoping I still feel up to it tomorrow after work and can still fit something longer in on sunday.

My consecutive days streak is over 105 days. It was bound to happen soon since I'm going to Barcelona in a few weeks.

I had a really sharp pain in my big toe when riding yesterday and it just randomly occured up in the middle of the night and on my walk today at work. Feels like someone is sticking a needle into my toe just under the toenail.

I'm racing this weekend, and if it happens during the race, I'm done. The pain is just too excruciating. Hopefully its goes away.

Tuesday I rode around the block 60 times in an hour hitting the hill at ~200% for 18 seconds for a record 114 TSS in an hour.

Last night I did the mikes bikes ride and as usual was solo off the back as soon as we hit the first non-neutral hill but managed to keep them in sight for 20 minutes in a brutal headwind. Caught them at a short light just before a 25 minute climb and got dropped again lol. PRed the whole 45 minutes though. Averaged ~93% of threshold but the first half was pretty punchy and sucked the life out of my legs. Finished with the social ride for 56 miles, 230 TSS.

Today and tomorrow easy, then I'm 90% sure I'll do the crits on Saturday and skip the baby masters RR champs on Sunday. I don't have 56 miles of punchy racing in my legs right now and a social east bay ride sounds like a lot more fun than driving 2.5 hours in Sunday traffic to get home at 8:30

Going to rent a Jump bike (electric boost bike share) for the commute home. It's like a negative TSS.

Did our local Thursday's worlds last night and felt good. I opted for riding the same duration as my race on Sunday vs. completing the whole ride, I didn't see a point in killing myself when the plan is to kill myself on Sunday (figuratively speaking).

Long, difficult day at work so just an hour easy tonight. We'll try again tomorrow after work to do an interval workout.

Was watching the Tulsa tough and I know the guy that started the break in the 1/2 field. Always cool to see people you know on TV.
