The last Garmin upgrade, which changed the file format, was a PITA for those who had data files on the computer. It would look like it had frozen up while it reformatted the files for up to an hour. Some people would start over repeatedly. With no data files, it was done in seconds. So if you ever need to upgrade firmware, get the files off first.

I did have PC7 issues and it turned out some chip or board was flaking out. They replaced it.

Apparently I send mine in for battery replacement too frequently. I send it in when the season ends.

I always do a hard reset before a firmware upgrade.

Well this thread gives me hope. My quarq just bricked and I'm having a bit of a panic attack. Sounds like they take care of us well.
