Yesterday, another magnificent day. 25 miles, which brings this year's total to 1,303, 2 more than last year. I'm very happy to beat last year's mileage, especially on such a beautiful day.

Managed to get in 15 miles today. I have not been able to ride for a while, so I didn't want to overdo it. I'll be riding pretty much every day, unless it rains, for the next month. I hope to be back up to 40-50 miles shortly.

Thickly housed residential area of Yokohama.
And Japan's symbol No.1, Mt Fuji, Fuji-San.
Hmmm, very Japanese sight.
The snowcap is still small, but it'll be bigger and Mt Fuji'll be more beautiful.

Another local ride yesterday. Too lazy to drive to someplace with hills so I ditched the CF superbike and cruised the steelie.

28 miles in 45* weather which started out as a light drizzle which turned into steady rain after 15 minutes. Even though I was fairly well equipped, I didn’t wear my heavy duty rain gear and returned home with wet hands and feet - and of course legs. At 67 riding in the rain is not my idea of a macho good time like in my 30s.

70 degrees in November! Group ride to the Old Field Lighthouse on the north shore of Long Island. Slow pace but a very nice group!

Unusually warm upper 60s here in southern Maine today. started with a 2 1/2 mile walk on the beach with the wife and the dog this morning. and then I plan on doing about 40 on the bike but managed to stretch it to 50.5 miles.
about 1700 feet of climbing. I felt about as tired as this old barn looks when I was done.

From earlier this week.
Finding motivation to ride……it’s 80 degrees so jumped on the bike after walking 18 holes this morning.
Doing a local brewery tour. At Mile 30 a Spaten Lager at Old Armour in Kannapolis. Mile 37 a Blonde Ale at Pharr Mill Brewing in concord. Stopped at Southern Strain in Concord but they’re closed……Last stop a Vienna Lager at Cabarrus Brewing in Concord. They no longer brew their Cabarrus Brown???? I hit Full Moon Oyster Bar on the way home for their vanilla Porter, actually had 2…..oysters were 1/2 price!! 5 beers the last 20 miles.
You might need to be an experienced (and thirsty) rider to pull this off….

From today. I’ve been distracted from riding since June with moving from our house we’ve been in for 30 years. Riding time and miles have suffered. Rode about 60 miles today. Stopped midway for a hot dog. Biggest hot dog I’ve ever eaten. Washed down with a Cheerwine…..a local soft drink started in Salisbury, NC, just a few miles away. Think cherry coke…..
Wind was tough coming back home. Nice car show in Kannapolis.Helicopters on display at local Brewery which provides proceeds to support Veterans.

40 miles in low 40s. Got back at sunset and man was the temp dropping. Just can’t get over how low the sky the sun is during the day. Wish my helmet had a visor. A pic of the Cascade Range in the distance.

Today's Mt. Fuji 001
Weekend rec ride today too.
I can hardly see Mt. Fuji today.
There are many days like today.

But beautiful ginkgo tree.
This one is young and small.
They live long, 1000 years! and grow big, 20m or 70ft!
Its pit is a tasty nut.
Roast, crack, eat, and enjoy with beer
I like it
Ginkgo is a gymnosperm and dioecism.
Only female trees bear fruits.
The fruits, hmmm, stink, ugh

We have ginkos all over NYC as they thrive in cities and seem to enjoy a bit of air pollution. These ancient trees fed dinosaurs, but I didn't know the ginko seed was edible for us. I'll look up the roasted pits!
