Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I go into more detail than that. But, no, I haven't updated my state-level population forecast yet this year.

Yeah he's fit. It's no doubt special to have the opportunity to throw it into 5th gear in a game situation. I bet he loved it, those opportunities don't come every game.

Thanks Mo, we didn’t know she was going to like it so much. Took her to a pony ride, just to try something new, and the owner couldn’t believe how well she behaved and she wasn’t frightened at all. Usually they don’t start lessons until the child is 5 or 6 but she handled the pony so well the first time, the allowed us to start lessons.

Just wait. You'll buy her a horse. Then she'll outgrow it and want a different one. But, you won't be able to trade or sell the first because your wife and daughter are in love with it. Before you know it, you'll own 5 horses. And, have all the accoutrements to go with them - kit, trailers, F250, feed and vet bills, etc., etc.

Not to mention a couple acres of grazing pasture.

Topped with about $100/month/horse for feed and supplements.

I've watched two friends go through this with their daughters. Both ended up with scholarships to good equine programs and love what they do, but the cost to get there really added up.

I'm not saying don't do it. Just go in with your eyes wide open.

The couple across the street from us built their house about the same time we bought ours, and we've come to know them fairly well. About 4 years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and had a tough battle but "beat" it. This past weekend we found out that her cancer is back, and she's been undergoing treatment since December. Of course, due to Covid, we've all been holed up, and other than talking across the yards, we haven't spent much time with them so we had no idea.

Yesterday, my wife decided to take them dinner from a popular local restaurant. It was a dinner for four that was offered as a fundraiser with a portion of the proceeds going to the non-profit that my wife works for. Of course, she bought one for our house also so we wouldn't have to cook. When she took the dinner across the street, the couple insisted that we join them for dinner since it served four. We did, and had a very nice evening.

All four of us are vaccinated, no masks, and it just felt right.

Well, **** - he'd better pick up a power meter soon or he'll never have the chance.

The issue is that as the rider's skills improve, they need a horse that can perform to the same level.

One of my friends ended up with four at the same time before he was able to instill any sense in the matter. The other has about 10, and a rig like this is parked at his shop.

Cool rigs are a win. I would get into horses for that reason. Like racecar haulers... Looking cool getting to the track was worth almost as much as setting quick time.
