Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sorry things aren't open out your way. Things should be better soon for you I hope. At least you've got the scenic terrain to enjoy.
Some opened with outside dining for a while then they were forced to close again. Now, lots of places are opening up.

I heard yesterday that the cafe we go to in the mountains has closed and been sold. I hope the buyers reopen it as a cafe because it is the only thing up there.

We like to ride on Angeles Crest Highway. The cafe is at about 6000 feet. Just down the road from here.

If my back is better and i go up North, I think we can meet on the Saturday afternoon (3 PM ish) on my way back to the beautiful state of Georgia. Probably the 19th or 26th. Will that work? is the REI nearby?

It all depends on my back. if i need epidural #3 I might not be able to go North. they keep the injections at least a month apart and it could mean i won't be better by mid June. I would have to push it back to mid August. No riding if its in June.

Underrated. Good movie that nobody's seen.

I've been antsy; I can only imagine how difficult this has been on older folks.

Maybe some of the other Addicts can chime in.
My wife and her bf are vaxxed up and galavanting. I have yet to bust out.

Something scary happened today still trying to process it. Lily and I started the ride and did the usual cap trail. We got to the bridge and she kind of sprinted up the first quarter. We got to the pull off at the top and she instantly said she didn’t feel well. She started to dry heave, and I had her sit down. After a little bit she said she felt fine and stood up, but started dry heaving again, I had her sit down and then she fainted. She was non responsive for about 30 seconds, and semi responsive after that. The whole spell lasted about 5 mins. Afterwards she complained about a head ache. I offered to go get the car but she wanted to ride back.

Looking at her heart rate data, she heart rate spiked at 197 while she was climbing the hill, and it looks like it immediately dropped to around 100.

That.is indeed scary. Something similar happened to my wife a few years ago. Shortly thereafter we were donating blood and they said they couldn't use hers. Too thick. So we went to the Cardiologist and he fixed her up. Your wife is young. Glw clearing it up.

I opened a fb account a few weeks ago, with the intention of finding people I've lost contact with, in preparation for my trip north. I accomplished that goal, and will close the account shortly. An interesting find was my permanently closed account fom a few years ago is still there. LiarLiar pants on fire.

And now that the weather has cooled some, I can ride a little later in the day. I'll be leaving shortly. What time does the Giro come on? I was never one for first stages. Nerves and crashes. Is Nairo still riding? Froome?

She’s convinced that she just over did it. I think there is something else at play. I am hoping she will go to the doctor.

that doesn't seem normal to me. I'd get a Doc to check it out.. unfortunately, they will probably do a lot of tests that might not be necessary and it will probably be multiple visits. Also, $$. All that said I'd still do it. Good luck maybe one of the Docs can give general guidance.

Great ride today. Even though the temp was the same that it's been all week (~37°), today it felt crisp and refreshing, instead of chilly and miserable. Energy levels felt good (I'd been dragging a bit lately) and I felt like I had decent legs under me from start to finish.

Oh, and today was my third metric in May.

Boy, as the weather warms up Back East, I am just falling off the bottom of the leader board. I need to either up my game or accept my fate. Or wait till next winter.
