Ummm...Yeah it is. For the things I buy it's rare that anywhere else is cheaper. And if another places is cheaper then it becomes more expensive after shipping. Or it's a case of I could probably drive to the store and buy this item for the same price or less than...but then to do that I'm burning up gas and wear and tear on my car plus I have to wait in line...so it becomes a wash and less convenient.
Due to Amazon I make very few trips to any stores anymore. There was a time that I would go to the grocery store or Walmart 3 times a week for things I needed. Nowadays I go once every two weeks to grocery shop and that's it. It's easier and much more economical to have products delivered to my house. Saves me gas money, saves wear and tear on the car, saves time out of my day so I can do other things and I never have to stand in line and listen to someone's 3 year old screaming and crying because mommy said no to a candy bar. There really is no downside.

Three very recent examples. Lantiseptic, protein powder and Conti GP5000S tires. The first two were cheaper in the store but not worth the drive. The tires were 40 dollars cheaper each online elsewhere and since I was buying a full seasons worth of tires, I skipped the convenience of next day arrival for a much slower delivery.

I find that the Amazon prices for bike parts are usually a bit higher than other online sources, although I did buy Rubino Pro tires without any issues. With older bikes, eBay is a great source.
When we had a Performance shop close by, that was my LBS. I liked the fact that I could browse without being bothered and paying a bit more than online wasn’t an issue. Plus their sales were great.
There are fewer local shops these days and I haven’t been in one in a long time. I’m not sure who is still around. There is a local Bike Garage that I’ve used a couple times when I want to get something serviced that I don’t want to do.

Amazon prices incorporate the so-called free shipping. Local prices at say Walmart or Costco are often cheaper, if the product is sold there. However, the cost of time and transportation makes Amazon a no-brainer for almost every purchase.

Please say where!
