Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's the description I consistently hear about cataract surgery . . . no big deal.

I'm still askeered, I'm going to wait until I start bumping into things before I get mine done.

My left eye, the one done today, was quite bad. A year ago my optometrist told me she couldn't give me a stronger lens.
The downside, of course, is I'll now have to buy traditional sunglasses. Haven't done that for awhile. Maybe the technology has all changed.

I don't use cologne much any more but have been known to slather on some English Leather.

I just recently had an eye exam and was told one eye has the beginnings of a cataract. That doesn't surprise me. Maybe Medicare will be buy me some new lenses in 5 years.

One Christmas a zillion years ago when my Mom’s side of the family had a present exchange the year that colognes were all the rage: Brut, Jade East, Hai Karate, English Leather, etc. I bet it took weeks for my grandparent’s house to quit smelling like a perfume counter.

Took the patch off to find blurry vision. The interwebs say that's normal. I see the doc tomorrow for post op checkup, and some clarification. The internet also said things like even avoiding stretching for a week, and things like bicycling for several weeks. The things they don't tell you. I will have many questions for the doc tomorrow. He did say I can come by public transportation. Operating a motor vehicle in that city is just insane.

His motto seems to be, "work harder, not smarter."

Also, he was super winded after splitting just one log.

Did manage a tail wind for one section. Going 28 mph with minimal effort is always fun.
Head wind all the way into the bike shop this morning. Also, some snow flurries. Insulated jacket and fleece gloves were deployed.

it will take a couple days to clear up but I’m betting that you’re going to wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

I thought you no longer had Wednesdays off? You changed it to a 3 day weekend. What gives?
