The fenders are 10 year old Honjos, the racks are V-O, and the lights are vintage Luxor. The tail light has an LED bulb, the headlight has been fitted with a Cree emitter; the front hub is a SON28. Parts for wiring a rectifier/smoothing circuit & USB charger are sitting on the bench right now.

The humble U08 really comes alive when you dress it up and give it a more relaxed riding position. The lighter wheels improved the ride as well. I've got one more finishing touch for this bike, but I have to wait until our weather gets warm enough so I can paint. I'm doing a Plume Alair chainguard up in black and gold. This will be one of my favorites when it's done.

Just admiring the LeJeune Baco. I have a lower down the hierarchy 1973 Lejeune TDF. It is a wonderful bike to ride. It was a gift from a friend. Made me start riding a bike again for the first time in decades. Makes me wonder why I ever stopped. Probably thought big boys didn't do that anymore. Wrong!
That is a beautiful machine. Do you ride it now, or is it just to admire? That, of course, is ok. My guess is it would be wonderful to ride as much as possible! I know my "Paris Frenchie" makes me happy every time I look at it. Plus each time I ride it, it's her and me and nothing else. Sounds corny, but it's true

She will get a studded front tire, and a gnarly knobby out back, with full fenders to keep the salt-spray to a minimum; but today I just aired-down the fat Kenda Kiniptions to 40 psi and hit the trail. But I'll let the photos do the talking.

After seeing dqrider's white Peugeot a few posts back it got me bring my ou-8 out of the basement. This is what I ended up with. just using bits from the vault. Want to try fenders down the road. Shakedown will have to wait due to old man winter. Cheers, kevin

I see you're working opposite ends of the color wheel there. Blue and orange do go good together. If you swap out those steel wheels for something alloy, you will find the ride is transformed. Not that it was bad to begin with, but a wheel change definitely makes it better!

My 3 French bikes. Vitus zx1 that was peugeot labeled, my vitus 992 and my mbk super record 753. All are fun fast rides and all date around 92. English bottom brackets and 130 rear spacing made for easy work. Campy on all, ranging from crecord to a used 10 record setup on the zx1. The zx1 is such an awesome rider despite its early carbon lineage, and the ventos just whirl at speed. The mbk is a stiff twitchy beast for old steel. The 992 is just fun. It's flexiness demands that you spin instead of mash but it's just as quick, and suprisingly comfortable. The anodized finish just shimmers in sunlight.

1950's Bertol Track Bike
Attached are a few photos of my Bertol track bike, if anyone can shed any light on the marque I am all ears.

The Bertol shop was located at 2 Rue Nelaton for many years until the area was redeveloped, the location is now a fancy Cafe.
This location is very close to the now demolished Vélodrome d'hiver

I have only seen photos of two other Bertol bikes, one a city bike the other a road bike (painted in the same livery as my track bike).

Le Greves
Here's a brand not many have heard of, a really exceptional race bike from the late 40s. Rene Le Greves was a successful pro racer in the 1930s and 40s who opened a bike shop with his brother after he retired from racing. The frame is very light and beautifully made, believed to have been built by Dante Franzil, another former racer. I've changed the rear derailleur and chainrings from original, so I can make it up the hills around here. The frame was nicely restored in France, with hand lettering and lining.
