Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am going in on Friday to see two patients with no acute medical issues. At least they've been tested and quarantined for a while. Hope I don't infect them.
I have no idea how bad the health system side of my employer has it right now. I do know the number of members we have with cancelled and rescheduled appointments is in the thousands right now.

Saw that there were a million new cases reported on Monday.

I have mild symptoms, can’t get a rapid test and a PCR is now 72+ hour wait. By the time the results come back I’ll be better, and I doubt it is Covid anyway since nobody around me has it.

Is everybody being tested even if not feeling sick? Curious as to the positivity rate when a large population of healthy feeling people are tested.

I just ordered a half-dozen Binax test kits for monitored at-home testing before we leave at the end of the month. The USVI requires a test and result within 3 days of our departure, and I'm concerned about being able to get tested and results so quickly through the usual channels.

Asymptomatic testing is voluntary for people working in our clinical building. It's an important surveillance and research tool.

They are supposedly ordering home tests for us.

You should. You always want 2, 3 or 4 crows, and never 1.

I'd rather count stars.

I've always figured that at some point I'd test positive even if not feeling sick. Probably more than once.

I've resigned to fate.

I thought I'd get tested again yesterday after at lunch, or after work, but the line was 5-6 cars deep. Before this New Year surge those nurses were out there twiddling their thumbs most of the time.

I had to scratch the Usual Suspects ride today, there was a winter weather advisory for freezing rain/drizzles. I heard there were several car accidents in the area this morning due to ice.

You warned us about covid too.

Maybe time to change from a bear to a canary in a coal mine?

If I tried to draft it wasn't any easier. I ended up off the back spinning @100 watts if I put any more effort in it would act like a ramp test and require more and more power. Then with 5 minutes to go suddenly I couldn't stop myself from riding with them. I was literally putting the minimum effort and riding away from them. I've been trying to find information on this group riding thing to see if I am doing something to cause this but so far nothing is apparent.
Are you watching the W/kg in the panel on the right of the screen? It will tell you not only what you're putting out but also the riders around you.
