And keep in mind that isn't just a dust cap, it sets the preload too. So tighten it before you tighten the crank arm bolts.

Aged Brooks Professional Saddle
Picked up an aged and imperfect Brooks Professional saddle for $30. It’s the starting point and the first piece of of the next vintage bike rescue project. The bike to be rescued has yet to be identified.

4iiii makes good stuff. I've had a 4iiii Precision on my non drive side for several years now. It's actually on its 2nd bike, luckily the Ultegra 6800 left crank arm was able to fit on the Ultegra 8000 crank when I upgraded bikes a few years ago. Whenever I get my new crank(6800 recall,) I'll send that in to them. Right now I'm sharing 1 crankset between 2 of my Canyons.
Finally was able to get a 120mm 1.25" stem for my project Canyon Ultimate...first one was a FSA that got lost in the mail. This is a Richey stem. Now I just need the replacement crankset and this thing will be done. This was a frame that acquired, the components I already had. The frame had some minor damage to the drive side chainstay, I DIY'ed the repair and it came out great.

Guy locally was selling a bunch of bike parts he had as he is moving and did not want to take it with him, so I picked up a couple of 11-34 105 cassettes for my FX and my wife's FX. Got them for $35 each and they were new in the box. This worked out perfect as we are looking to take a trip to Georgia in January, and will need some lower gears.

Anyway, new bike day...I've been wanting to replace my existing XC race bike, but have been waffling on what exactly I wanted to replace it with. Finally bit the bullet and picked up a brand new Santa Cruz Blur. She's a bit on the chunky side compared to my old Spesh Epic, but 1/2 the weight difference can be accounted for in the wheels/tires...I'll run my old wheelset on this bike when I'm racing. The other half can be accounted for mostly in longer suspension and the dropper post. Modern XC is becoming quite technical and I think I'll appreciate the 120mm F/115mm R travel of this bike over my 100/100 Epic. The dropper post is also a big deal IMO. The Epic was pretty weight-weenie as far as FS mtbs go, but I'm one of the heavier guys in my class, so I think the added suspension capabilities will be of more benefit that a couple pounds of bike weight.
Never mind the big, uncut steerer and the dorky stock pedals. I'm still playing around with fit and my Garmin powermeter pedals will go on it before my first "real" ride:

Good point. I also realized that the smaller sizes will come in handy at times. REI has the 20% coupon today so I ordered the set.

2 pairs of Vittoria Pave CG Open Clincher 25c tires, and a pair of Vittoria Competition Latex tubes. Got the tires on a stupidly low price, so I thought I would try the combo of the tires and the tubes to see how subtle the ride will be on my Lynskey this coming spring.

Time Alpe D'Huez
I purchased a Time Alpe D'Huez frameset as a replacement for my "all-arounder" that was recently totaled by a driver who rear-ended me. The frameset is due to arrive on Wednesday and I am beyond excited 
. The groupset and other parts for the build will trickle in over the next 1-2 weeks, and I hope to have her built and on the road shortly after Thanksgiving. Who says black bikes aren't sexy as hell? 
And it will ride like a dream. Time bikes are the bees knees!!! 
EDIT: The bike is built, and this morning I took it for its maiden voyage.

Had a good yesterday at the GABA Tucson bike swap. Went down with the Rusty Spoke gang, driving a very full truck and trailer of bikes and stuff. Came back with a moderately-full truck and trailer.
This time, I told myself repeatedly "I don't need more tires. I don't need more tires." But then I saw a 451 20" and I remembered I'd eventually need one for my recumbent, and then more like-new 26" high-pressure slicks at really low prices... and there goes that resolution. Also picked up more PowerGrips, kickstands, shifters, mirrors, a side-entry bottle cage, tube, QuikStik, chainring bolts, and a Presta chuck. Plus a 36" W11-1 bicycle warning sign.
Not depicted: two rear racks and a bin of tools I bought and donated to the co-op.
Edit: And a copy of Hershon's "Tales from the Bike Shop". A third of a century old but still a good read.

Hey, kickstands are useful. I have them on all but two of my bikes. Although these probably won't end up on my own bikes, but on ones I'm fixing up for nonprofits.

There are multiple versions available on Amazon.com; the 19 g version says disc-only. Can anyone here verify that the heavier version won't assplode within rim brake CF wheels?

Decided to pick up some wider semi slick gravel tires and got some Pirelli Centurato All Road in 40mm. Found them for $25 a tire. Gave me a more stable ride on the off road routes than the 35mm tires I was using did, now questioning myself if maybe I should have gone with the 45mm instead.
