I don't like handlebar bags but a friend gave me this little one to try. It doesn't bother me but it also doesn't hold much. Yes, the saddle is trashed.
I cruised around the bike path for 2.5 hours. Hardly anyone out there and best of all, no cars.

Shift cables mounted. I bought a cable cutter and it worked one time. Pretty pissed. So now I am stuck.
I still don’t understand what’s going on with the cranks. Why is there so much space between the crank arms and bottom bracket? the front derailer doesn’t line up.
I measure the bottom bracket of the ritchey and they are almost the same size. couple mm different in width.

We are on nearly the brightest possible (playoff) timeline - the Fighting Corkles are eliminated (and I can't wait to hear the analysts falling over themselves to say what a great coaching job it is to almost make the playoffs while the Giants are disappointing), and while the Bucs and Cowboys are both in... they face each other on Wildcard Weekend and perforce one will be gone.

It seemed like the cranks arms didn’t want to go on. I put them on the spindle and started to righted them but it never seemed like they engage into the locks on the spindle. They won’t move at the moment but I bet if I were to try and pedal it won’t work.

I would do it in the most controlled and benign surroundings possible, preferably with supervision and support from a pro. I may or may not have taken a lot of that stuff BITD and experienced a fair amount of fear, anxiety, and unpleasant depersonalization, along with amazing fun. Good luck!

A storm blew through last night, and another one's due tonight, but in between, I was able to get out for 56.5 miles. A lot less water on the road this week than last, AND Crystal Springs Rd was open - which is good because the ONE alternative route, the Ralston Trail, is still closed. I got a chance to test my new LeCol "Pro Aqua Zero" jersey, which is a waterproof thermal thing. I got it in yellow, since it was on sale in that color and much as I may like the stealthy look of black kit I have to admit being seen is nice, too. I don't see many yellow jerseys or jackets. Is there some silly "Don't wear a yellow jersey or people will think YOU think you're Eddy Mercx/Greg Lemond/Lance Armstrong" prohibition on them is there? I mean, it's a maillot, and it's jaune, but it's not a Maillot Jaune. I couldn't tell about the waterproof part, but it's nicely windproof, so I didn't freeze on 30+ mph downhills.
Anyway, I also got to test my new rear fender - SKS S-Blade. Works a treat! No skunk stripe, no soggy shorts, and I had to ride through a LOT of water. Lots of places where it's draining across the road. Also lots of debris. You can see the fender in the pic. I couldn't fit a saddlebag, the Varia, the taillight, AND the fender, so I ended up putting two tubes, levers, and a patch kit in a baggie in one pocket, and a multitool and pump in another.
Two weeks of rain, and it's getting all green and alive again.

my brother has what i believe is that exact same canyon, maybe it's ultegra, but same color, wheels, etc i think. his is way too small for me but i rolled around the block on it and it seemed like a really nice versatile ride.

I am no expert, but if you try, be sure to have someone you know and trust as a “spotter” as I believe sometimes the experience can be very scary for some people.

For me, the Ekar crank was too short, so I needed a crank with a longer spindle. You may be better off with a crank with a shorter spindle. But the Hope cranks I have on a couple of bikes have separate spindles, so by changing the spindle I can run the same cranks on my mountain bike and my fat bike.

That is what I was talking about. The crank may not fit unless you can shim the bottom bracket to fit. The length of the threaded portion of the BB needs to be long enough to have sufficient threads in the BB shell when it is shimmed to fit the spindle.
For me, the Ekar crank was too short, so I needed a crank with a longer spindle. You may be better off with a crank with a shorter spindle. Accoridng to sheldon brown I need a octalink v1 68mm 118.5 spindle.
I believe this is a 122.5 mm spindle. That’s the problem.
Crazy 4 mm makes that big of a difference. Face palm. This bike was essentially supposed to cost nothing and now it’s approaching 350.00. Between cages, bar tape new cables. Had to pay for the bb removal and bb install. I guess i’ll have to pay for than again tomorrow. The BB will be 60.00 dollars.
