But if you're talking rockabilly, I would go for something 40s or 50s from a US maker like Schwinn. There are some other classic inspired models from current manufacturers who might be of interest too, but if authenticity is what you want this is the place.
Now, this is getting exciting. Let me pitch you the concept. I will be dressed like Sandy from the end the movie Grease (https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jCYpcqNdld...y_-_Grease.jpg). And strip down to a glamorous interpretation of the cycling bib. At the beginning I am treating my bicycle like a hotrod motorcycle (think "vroom vroom" audio and gang insignia on the back of my boyfriend's leather jacket). As things come off I'm going to be wearing the bib and getting into acrobatics and racing stances. I realize these are too contradictory types of bikes, but I could work with one that fits either stereotype: leathered vixen or old school european racer.

You're right. I'm just a C&V square. You should mention the modern companies producing these typs of cruisers. I think she's looking for a business relationship, not just a bike.

If not a training stand, then what? I need the cycle to be steady on the stage and ridable.

I agree. I'm trying to find out what are the "liberal bent" companies are!

Josephine, are you familiar with the "lovely bike" blog? Its creator (you'd think I'd remember her name, but no such luck!) hangs out here sometimes, though I haven't seen her posting here lately. At any rate, I believe she has made contact with some of the companies you'd be considering, so mebbe she'd have specific advice for you.

I think Linus in NYC is the best match. They make roadsters/cruisers and, IMO, are after the crowd you're performing for. They're also aggressively expanding.

Hopefully I came off in jest. No offense was intended.

You are right. Modern companies like Electra make some pretty retro looking bikes. That might be one prospect.

BTW, I'm not a fixie hater. I like them. And I'm wearing skinny pants today too. The MGMT record was pretty solid as well.

As in interesting sidenote, this thread is growing faster than any other I've noticed in the brief time I've been hanging out here.

That is because... The appeal of a naked woman is universal.
I am getting some really helpful suggestions, thank you. Linus and Peter Weigle are just gorgeous. I can't believe someone like Peter Sachs exists. And, the lovely bicycle blog is an inspiration.
It is true, I am looking for a business partnership. I would like to be a kind of "corporate ambassador" for a bicycle company interested in having their bike and company insignia on Burlesque stages across the country. Besides, bicycling is already sexy. Bicycle Burlesque is just the next logical step

I agree that a balloon tire bike, like the Schwinn panther shown above are probably what your
looking for as opposed to say a classic lightweight 10 speed. Personally, I'd stay away from the
fixed gear hipster crowd, it would box you in too much with a given image (i.e. skinny black jeans,
emo look etc.).
hmm, maybe a Merlin Newsboy?

That's hard to argue with. At least *I'm* not going to argue with that statement.

My wife has a Linus Mixte... Sweet bikes and they seem liberal enough for a business relationship like you seem to be looking for. Weigle's a builder... Who knows? Your comment on Sachs nearly put me on the floor with laughter! And I do get stoked seeing a nice looking lady on a bike... or off a bike too, now I think about it.

That sounds reasonable. And challenging. I guess I'll start by finding the bike!

Google the phrase "cruiser rat rod chopper lowrider bicycle" or some combination and you might find a match.

I think you should avoid the pricier brands and customs. I don't mean to be snobbish, but 20somethings can't afford the bikes on lovely bicycle or j p weigles. I think you'd have better luck with Linus because they're targeting hip 20 something commuters.

Hey, hey, hey.... Neither I, nor my wife, are 20-something commuters! I know I look young, but sheesh. I guess dropping that 80 lbs. really DID pay off. BTW, did anyone see the "Sites with Sachs Appeal" page (https://www.richardsachs.com/site/sit...-sachs-appeal/) on Richard Sachs website? Who said he didn't have a sense of humour?

I think mixtes with skirtguards when I think burlesque. Seems like Velo Orange abandoned mixtes. Sweet Pea makes psuedo mixtes but they're kinda pricey.

For the Rockabilly angle, rat rods all the way. Maybe even lowrider bikes. That's more of a localized thing, though. I know some decent lowrider dudes and they know some ratrod bike dudes here but I dunno if they'd be down for shipping bikes across the US and all that.
