2016 Kestrel Talon Road 105
Upgraded to full 6800, except pedals, which are R550.
I'm going to throw a pair of 50mm Chinese carbon clinchers on.
I was also considering a lower end Felt AR, but I'm happy with the Kestrel. My only regret is not going with the 6870 gruppo.
I'll be happy for a few years. It's FAST!

Buying and converting a complete bike gets you all your parts, minus the ss freewheel. Often this can be cheaper and faster than building frame-up, even if the frame is only a $50.
I thought you were advocating for crappy frames because you keep bringing up $50 framesets. IME, $50 frames are crappy, at least compared to the Miyata above.
Edit: lets get back on track. My roadies:
Bianchi. Shaped steel tubing, lugs and DA. So smooth, so comfy. Bombs the downhills with confidence.:

SS Roadie. Old Ken Legge frame with the parts I had on hand, mostly mid-80's 600 from my wife's Marinoni. Ironically, this frame was only $40 (bit of a fluke finding a nice frame for cheap around here)! Pretty haggard paint, but whateves:

The wifey's Marinoni. A lovely classic with some component swaps for her preferences:

I used to have a CAAD 8 R700 which I loved and had to sell after a move. I found this bad boy for what I think is a great deal - and am quite excited to be back on a CAAD
$700:
2006 CAAD 8 Optimo
Ultegra: shifters, FD, brakes
Dura Ace: crank, RD
Campagnolo Record Ti Pro-fit pedals (not currently mounted)
Thompson Elite seat post
Carbon slice fork
Profile Design carbon drop bars
Unknown brand carbon stem
Selle Italia SLR XP saddle

Just got a text on Saturday from a buddy down at the LBS, my 2016 Specialized Allez Elite is here!! I've got a SRAM Rival 22 groupset on order as well that they'll be throwing on in the next few weeks. Can't wait to swing down on Tuesday and pick the bike up!

No pics yet but I just got a 2002 Look AL 384. I've only ridden it a couple of times in the couple of weeks I've had it and I'm liking it. Still playing with the setup and this winter, I think I should take the chainrings, chain, rear derailleur and cassette off and clean them all very well. It looks like it might have used a wet lubricant but I think I'll use a dry one instead.

Just picked up my first road bike this week. 2008 Fuji Team Rival. C7 Carbon frame and fork, Shimano R-500 wheelset, Rival 20. 54cm.
Need to find better pedals and seat, and get some new bar tape. Bike feels great though! Better than the brand new Trek Emonda S I tested at the LBS.
Apologies for posting the wrong side...I'll get some better shots once I get her all setup.

I am loving the orange. It looks much better in this pic vs. the Spech website. Any chance for a traditional garage door shot?
