Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Still not there yet, or I would be up for some BF shenanigans.

Local day travel other than by bike is pretty difficult for me on the 4th of July because of the hundreds of thousands of people who flood my backyard that day for the concert and fireworks. Pitbull is headlining this year. Maybe I will trundle down to watch the fireworks at the end of the concert.

@datlas didn't mention the fact that he swapped the legendary Saturn over to electric power. Word on the street is he found a complete EV-1 Power Supply on scambay for a song, and for a six pack of Bud Light, the neighbor kid installed it.

I have a fantasy about riding on the interstate. One time when they were doing construction near downtown they had a special event where they opened up stretch for non-motorists. But you had to pay and it was only a short distance so no thanks.

The experience varies in quality based on shoulder conditions, terrain and traffic levels. In ND we were on the interstate for maybe 10 miles early in the morning. Got passed by fewer than a half dozen cars, and there was no climbing to speak of. The 13 or so miles of I-80 east of Rawlins, WY was surprisingly traffic-lite, with few trucks, but maybe because it was July 5th. I have ridden a 6 mile stretch of I-90 east of Missoula that has had moderate to heavy traffic, including a lot of trucks. That's no fun. Only once have I opted for interstate riding when there was no alternative at all or no paved alternative. That was in SD. I made my decision based on the fact that the frontage road had no shoulder and became increasingly lined with businesses as it approached my destination town. The interstate, pictured below, turned out to be not that bad. The biggest concern is when you have to cross over exit ramps. I noticed that many SD drivers view turn signals as optional. I had to cross one exit ramp to get to my exit. I simply stopped on the shoulder, looked back and waited for a large traffic gap before crossing the ramp.

I saw 3 people on bikes enter my road FROM an interstate ramp last Sunday. South Main Street in Morton, IL morphs into an interstate ramp and I can only surmise the people didn’t know what to do and rode the shoulder a mile to the next interchange at Broadway and got off. Illegal, of course, but I’ve heard of other cyclists sneaking through there before..

Good question. I think one is for the 110 and one is for 220? That's my best guess.

Don't think so. Typically most houses have 3 wires coming in - 2 hot, and one neutral. Measure between either hot to the neutral you get 110 - measure across the two hots you measure 220.

I wonder whether at one time part of the house was rented out separately, and it was set up with a separate breaker box and meter.
