it’s a bummer they don’t have O-ring chains for bicycles similar to motorcycle chains
install an O-ring chain on a motorcycle and you are basically done ... can forget about lubrication - although you can spray or drip something on the chain if you desire (and recommended) ...

The Older Boy, working in the Meat Department at Safeway, follows all the sales and periodically brings home things that would normally be much more expensive. This week, it was bone-in beef shortribs, at half price. The problem is, I then have to cook whatever it is, since he doesn't get off work till 8 PM. So last night, I had to squeeze my ride into the hour between finishing the prep and getting the shortribs in the oven, and having to go fetch him from work. So I decided to do a workout from Zwift's long list.
There currently doing a "Train Like A Pro" promotion, along with their "Race Like A Pro", where they tie the workouts to different World Tour teams. So I did an Ineos Grenadiers "All Rounder" workout, since it was supposed to be 45 minutes. I was able to manage it handily. I mean, yeah, it was work, especially the 8x(350w/20sec -> 140w/40sec), but I never found myself only just making it to the arch at the end of the hard effort. So, it was a workout, but not all that hard, or at least, not as hard as some I've done where the last hard effort is JUST BARELY possible. I wonder whether they made it easier so folks unused to structured training would be able to do it? Or is what I think my FTP is lower than my REAL FTP? Or is it just this workout wasn't hard for me because it fits my strengths?
Anyway, unlike the Zwift Academy workouts of years past, I never found myself fighting the urge to turn the FTP bias down. I wonder if they "detuned" these after complaints about some of the Zwift Academy workouts being too hard for mere mortals?

I'm beginning to figure out why, at the end of every winter, I'm verklempt at how little I rode, and wondering why. Every year I tell myself this will be the year it changes. I said it just last week, to the Mrs. Well, today is ride day, in about a half hour. I'm cold, at 79 degrees and low humidity. It would be much easier to go out into the woodshop and work without sweating, for a change. Or do anything without sweating, for a change. I will ride though, and see if it can change my headspace. It will only be cold at the start.

I did a ride with a pacebot (coco) today rather than TR- trying to get used to Zwift for the inevitable fake miles for the festive 500. It was moderately easy, which I guess is the point. I felt the time went slower than when I’m just spinning in ERG watching a movie.
I have every part I need now to install my groupset, just waiting on a BB press and appropriate wrench.

I rode comfortably; even worked up enough of a sweat to require a shower after. But I would rather it was warmer. Like all of us this time of year. I'll stop whining now, and just get on with it.

We had a big turnout for today’s ride. I did not count but somewhere around 16-18 riders braved temps in the 20’s for the first two hours, and I don’t think it got above freezing the entire ride. At about the 35 mile point a rider flatted, given the cold I sent most of the gang on their way while 6 of us stayed back until the flat was fixed.
This may be the last ride for awhile, we are expecting big rain and then a rapid plunge in temps which means ice on the back roads.
Welcome to winter, it’s official.

I don't know anything about that but the O-ring chains were pretty expensive compared to regular chains. They were so stiff you could bend it and it wouldn't straighten if you lifted it up. They loosened up a bit once on the bike for a while.

The power flickered a few times for a minute and went out. Austin Energy estimates an hour to come back on. Mojo31, the kids ok? I’d hope you raised daughter to be set for a power outage but if they just moved they might not have the stuff.

I believe there were / are O-ring chains that feature less resistance ... ? ... possibly intended for top pro bikes or the small bore bikes ?

Ah good. Really wouldn't have expected less, but wanted to make sure. And ours just came back anyway, ahead of schedule. A coworker not far away still had it, so might have been something very local.
