Gentlemen
In response to apropo most of us, check this out

Eddy Merckx frame, old fashioned flat top fork crown with the Merckx pantograph, completely chromed
Chromed dropouts, chromed right chain stay
rich red color, original paint judging from the seat stay caps with the Merckx logo
but get this - no decals of any kind, not on headtube or and downtube, no decals anywhere.
original paint ' almost ferrari red
bottom bracket shell the old fashioned kind with lots of cut outs filled in by some inner band,
bottom bracket shell with super (above) brazed cable guides
bottom bracket underside with the hold and C on the drive side and E#### on the left side.
Old campy nuovo record or super record cranks 175 mm
frame size 61 seat tube
obviously a little mistreated andn odd parts put on, but original campy headset and quill stem and bars cinelli of course
what else - oh yeah - must be 84 judging by all the other research
photos after I reach ten threads
ciaou

Have fab photos but can't post
Paint is awesome, but sadly, maltreated for decades
thus she is called Tess, "how the mighty have fallen"

The distinction between SLX and TSX is completely crazy - but it can be done...
thanks for your help!

sad I didn't get that frameset.

but fortunately, I got this Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra Max (I believe so).

I believe its produced in 90, based on the brochure below (which you post in other Merckx thread IIRC)

cant wait for this frameset to arrive and ride it

Eddy Merckx Panasonic

Hello, my turn .

Would be nice to know if someone can cypher the story behind my frame.

Eddy Merckx Panasonic
Corsa Extra SLX

Left side shows 8X T
Right side shows A 1122

Ps. I would add photos but the site is being fussy. After a few more posts I should be able to upload something

Thanks

if you replace #### with numbers I will determine the year the frame was built
EMC used SR in complete bikes, a regular Record could be fitted to a purchased frame
Corsa Extra Max
congratulations this is the earliest version, the frame was built in late 1990 / early 1991
T8X A1122 CE SLX/SPX built late 1986 / early 1987 (series frame)
Panasonic! the strongest team sponsored by EMC... ever

Hello Cycles Macaron

Hello Cycles Makaron sorry for 1st misspelling
Thanks for response
Numbers are E 4917
C on drive side
supposedly size 61
Funny thing, no front derailleur braze on
I have super record rear and front but for braze on
Tubing is pretty thick at ends based on sounding it
Thank you!

E 4917 was built at the end of 1982, at that time FD mounts were not yet fitted (maybe in some frames they were carefully tried)
C was most likely meant to be G (perhaps the G employee had one too many beers), this is the second such "bad luck" I know of

I assume your reply above was for me thanks

'T8X A1122 CE SLX/SPX built late 1986 / early 1987 (series frame)

Thought to add some images to reference.

If you have anymore juicy information about this frame, please do share

Thanks again

Early Eddy Merckx frames

Hi CyclesMakaron
Re: E4917
Yeah got the narrow seat stays, chromed right chain stay, chrome fork and crown
Wish it had whole triangle chromed but ... chrome campy dropouts
It is a cool bike, when you push down on the handlebarstem, the whole bike jumps forward
it's gonna be so fast on the downhills
some pitting that went through the paint on downtube so maybe that should be buffed out & rust coated?

My Newest Merckx

H C
0X 2222

So I think the 0X tells me it is a 60cm SLX frame (both hold true from measuring and from checking for the helix coils.

Any idea on the rest of it? I would love to know what this frame originally was. It is a re-spray, which I am usually not a fan of, but this thing is beautiful! Thanks in advance!!

Century TSX, TF (Tutti Frutti) paint scheme, but... the serial number is a bit sensational - can you show a photo with the markings?

Hello Bike Forums,

I need some help from the experts her!
My bottom bracket says G 5434 on the right side and H on the left.

The first post says"G - prototypes --- ~ E6100". I couldn't find any further informations about my frameset. Unfortunately somebody painted it black. Is there somebody who knows which frameset it is and from which year it is?

Regards Ben

Sorry, it's not the same G...
Your frame is marked H G5434 meaning the EMC guy is H and the serial number is G5434.
The frame was built in 1997.
Unfortunately I can't determine the model, by that time the markings were no longer used regularly.
The choices are:
- Mx Leader (top tube front "flattened" top and bottom, rear "flattened" sides; thick chainstays)
- Arcobaleno (seat post screw in top tube)
- Corsa Extra (normal tubes, no oversize/ovalise)
- Corsa 01 (ovalise/oversize)
- Strada OS (oversize only)
Good luck

Thanks a lot! Appreciate!
It's definitely not the Arcobaleno. And also not the Strada OS.

My frameset has a very characteristical "doubled" seatpost screw. So there are two. One one the height of the top tube and one about 8cm higher. The seatpost post tube is kind of enlarged. Never found a photo of another Merckx frame showing that.

Unfortunately I can't post photos and links here. But one of my latest photos on Instagram you can see the frame. May you pleeeeeease have a look?
"youngbom16"is my nickname on ig. If you google it you can watch my account without having the app i think.

But anyways THANKS!

I beleive this to be a 1997, but would like confirmation please. Made with SLX NEW. Interestingly, the seat tube measures 55.3 C to C, and the TT is 56 C to C.

What does the "B" stand for / or signify?

Any insight would be appreciated! And thank you for putting this excellent tread together...invaluable!

Corsa Extra built at the end of 1997, "century geometry" (that means B by X), RA paint scheme introduced for 1998 season (check 1998 catalogue)
