So it really was a cross country trek! *drum roll, snare*
Seriously though that's amazing. My girlfriend and I are dreaming up a plan to do some bike touring in Scotland, but nothing near as epic as a cross country.
My first and C&V was a U08! It is still one of my favorite rides. I sold it to a friend who, like I was, is constantly impressed at how fast he can get it going. That thing was a speed demon and thanks to that longer wheelbase I hardly had any toe lap at all.
You've a beautiful cdale there. Clearly well cared for. It's easy to tell with these given the delicate nature of the paint. Mine was definitely stored in a poorly sealed shed by the last owner and on a porch by the one before. In portland with all the moisture that's basically in the rain. I'm glad it held on like it did but the paint certiantly didnt make it.
you mentioned 700c wheels? I'd love to swap over but I'm a bit confused about the rear spacing. Somone had mentioned to me it was 126mm but that doesnt seem right. When I was swapping freewheels I initially tried just putting in another 27" 126mm(I think) wheel I've got, but it was it just barley made it to the dropouts and I couldnt cinch it down. The rear wheel it came with is 126mm nit with an extra spacer coming out of the nondriveside. Was yours larger than 126?
snip; . .. Spacer as pictured. I belive this is the oem rim and wheel set.

The rear drop out almost certainly has to be 126 mm as that was pretty bog standard in the 80s; plus you are talking about a freewheel in the back and there were very few freewheel hubs set up for 130 mm. Some people think it's no big deal to spread an aluminum frame from 126 to 130 but personally I wouldn't do it. The difference between 27 inch and 700c has nothing to do with the drop out spacing though.
Touring in Scotland will be fun. I've toured all over the UK. Just bring your granny gear and fenders.

WOW that turned out great. Saved another cool old school, and rare, Cannondale from the bone yard. Here is a link to the original post about this Fire Bike for others to see just how bad this bike was just a week ago.

That's actually kind of a cool set up. What's the gearing?

Whoa whoa whoa, people. We're just going to ignore show5o's epic vintage Cannondales??? The one above is stealth, but in silver! These are some proper upgrades you have on this, sir. Especially the deep section carbon wheels. Normally the silver painted Shimano 105 components look weird on most bikes, but on this one they look perfectly at home! The silver and black color theme is very well done, and I like the upgraded carbon fiber fork. Beautiful Cannondale!

Hahaha, no scolding meant! Usually there is at least one or two people that will respond to a new entry anywhere, right out of the gate. These Cannondales are uniquely done (well, the silver one is, the blue one looks like it came from the Catalog which I always like) and the blue one has the "custom graphics" which is always fun to see. And to see his location is Tokyo, Japan--that's something I certainly don't see. I guess bikes can go anywhere--don't know if Cannondale sold to Japan (probably), but if they did or didn't, I imagine they probably weren't that common. Thus, it would take purposeful effort to source one for ownership. I really dig that!

Cannondale recently found at church sale. I believe it is equipped with RSX, 7-speed STI shifters and Mavic rims. Small frame size fits my wife well; will have to wait for warmer weather to see if she will ride it.

I love vintage cannondale and Aluminum farme for cannondale.
I wondered whether to make black or silver, but made it silver.
That was a correct answer.
It was difficult to find vinntage Cannondale in Japan
among them, custom graphics.
I have been looking for a long time
SR2000 yellow custom graphic frame for cannondale Catalog cover 1987
Can you see it there?

It looks like my guess was correct--that it is hard to find a Cannondale of those years (the 1980's generally). I'm glad you found two! I see the yellow SR2000 in the catalog, with the custom graphics. The graphics may look a little funny to me, but that is rare that one would have it, so I like it! Don't know if they did it on tall 63cm bikes like mine. I looked on ebay for an older yellow Cannondale and there are none of that style. I'm glad you like these bikes. I think they're really cool, and it's nice to see the initials of the people who welded the bike together (they stamped them on the rear dropouts).

My '93 R900. This was my first road bike that I got as a gift from my parents in 2005. I was 19 at the time. I'm now 32. I don't think I'll ever let this bike go until I die. It's just so good. I've tried to keep it original. The chain, seat-post, tires, tape are not original. I've debated losing a couple pounds and shedding the heavy chromoly wheels. But I can't bring myself to do it. I figure at 20.5lbs the bike is light enough.

Now that's a pretty bike! You've taken great care of it young man. BTW tires and chains are consumables so they can be replaced while still keeping it "original."

Here is my 83 st-500 that I bought recently. I’m very excited to overhaul this bike after the holidays. I’m looking forward to trying something different this summer.
