Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

What did you just buy for your gravel bike?

LOL, yea Bigfoot is kitted out for getting to/from work ATM. The timing is actually impeccable. Got these sorted out and working just in time to have my car die....so I'm Car Free, for a while at a minimum.

SIDENOTE:

Remember the 15mm CL lockring shenanigans I pulled upthread? Well....something was hinky. Why? The new lockring didn't clamp the rotor tight even when torqued. There was maybe a 1/2mm of play. Just enough to rattle and make noise. Which is odd as these are new Shimano R800 rotors and this is the new 2018 (they changed the design actually) 15mm+ centerlock lockring. WTF.

So I swapped my old HB20 lockring onto the Onyx/R800 rotors, and put the new lockring on my old wheels....and they worked as expected on their opposite wheels.

More likely just substituting other parts without regard to whether they will work or not.

Well the old lockring HB-20 is being phased out:

https://www.jensonusa.com/Shimano-HB...Rotor-Lockring

The new lockring is HB-M8010

https://www.jensonusa.com/Shimano-HB...ck-Ring-Washer

Taking a closer look at another listing:
https://www.competitivecyclist.com/shimano-xt-m8010-centerlock-rotor-lockring?skidn=SHI00HL-ONECOL-S121520MMTA&ti=UExQIENhdDpNb3VudGFpbiBCaWtlIEJyYWtlIFNtYWxsIFBhcnRzOjE6OTpjY0NhdDEwMDQ4Nw==

The included lockring with the CL/ISO adapter isn't that (the new ring I have doesn't have that raised flange)...so they have yet another lockring out there to just not use.

See: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/shimano-centerlock-to-6-bolt-rotor-adaptor?skidn=SHI009S-BK-ONESIZ&ti=UExQIENhdDpNb3VudGFpbiBCaWtlIEJyYWtlIFNtYWxsIFBhcnRzOjE6MTI6Y2NDYXQxMDA0ODc=

So...TL;DR my bad for presuming compatibility blind on the internet I guess.

At least they are giving some warning about changing the part. This hasn't always been the case with Shimano.

So I got a pair of WTB Riddler 45c tires for my Giant Toughroad. Dry mounted easily with a compressor on my i23 wheels.

I’m mostly surprised that they mounted as easily as they did, granted I ran out of sealent so I’ll have to pick some up tomorrow, but I was hesitant going with a TCS Light tire as the las one I had suffered from pinhole leaks in the sidewall. These tires seem to hold well with no signs of leaks. Can’t wait to give them a test ride 😬

It's one thing to drink hard liquor and another to bring it along on a bike ride. Really... just wait till you get home.

People are free to do whatever they want, I guess, but the need to bring liquor on a bike ride suggests, at a minimum, a misplaced sense of propriety.

I'd go ride somewhere else if someone pulled that thing out during a ride.

So, true. I feel the same way about Starbucks. I do feel a little better after they sent me an apology letter and a Starbucks gift card when they refused to let me use the restroom after handing my daughter the money for her candy latte.

Dunno what to tell you but a lot of gravel rides revolve around alcohol. Hell the Belgian Waffle Ride which is probably the biggest gravel race in the US after the Dirty Kanza is held at a brewery and they're the second largest sponsor after Canyon.

Putting the trusty Cowbells on my new Kona Rove St. I tried but I just can't get used to the stock Kona Road bars--the drops just aren't comfy.

Cowchippers, Mallet 2 pedals, and some super bright Deda tape that was on sale for like 7 bucks. Not sure about the tape. Think I should have gone more for the yellow that matches the decals more.

The Cowchippers are great. Got 44cm as I was hesitant about the 46 but now I think I should have gone 46. Very comfy bar though and the the drops feel so good.

Was on the fence on this one, but ended up YOLOing and ordering the Ultegra RX800 RD while Jenson had the 20% off coupon for full priced item.

Among other gifts, my wife got me a pair Shimano SH-XC7 shoes and a Camelbak Chase vest. Remarkable that she got me exactly what I wanted.

Well, my faithful Mazda died...my Yakima Raptor roof racks won't fit the new car. So needed a hitch rack. This all happened just AFTER Competitive Cyclists's last 20% off 1 full-price item code expired.

So I waited. And waited more. Saw XMas sales, and waited....

And today @0730 their Boxing Day email with another 20% off code went out (SAVE20DEC)...So PaPa has a new 50lb hitch rack coming 20% off with 2 day air UPS mail (free--that alone is like $200 for a 50lb hitch rack).

Umm....where to start. I bought a 2016 Jamis Renegade Expat Frame and fork. A shimano compact crankset, a pair of CR18 rims to build wheels, a set of 105 2x11 brifters, 105 front derailleur and an 11 speed chain. More parts to come as my goal is to have my new gravel bike built by the end of January. Plans are to use a 105 gs rear derailleur with a road link and an 11-36 rear cassette. May have to adjust gearing when I get some miles on the build.

I might have a Shimano GS rear derailleur if you're interested. I can check tonight.

Seriously? What in the post suggested a need to bring liquor? Maybe it's a want. Maybe there is going to be a non alcoholic beverage in the flask.
( " People are free to do whatever they want, I guess,") Wow, How pompous are you? I find it totally preposterous that someone would even make statements like this. I'm guessing "Snowflake". Self righteous Twit.
