Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My friend with the electric Porsche uses a SeaSucker rack. He swears by it. I have a slightly different name for it, but NSFW so use your imagination.

Makes sense, actually, with cycling being a more gear dependent activity for many. In your case you're also a collector, which is kind of an offshoot, or sub-species, of cyclist.
My dentist's wife does the teeth cleaning and is a life long runner. They have two sons. I asked her what month of her pregnancy she stopped running. She looked puzzled, "Stopped running?". I think she was annoyed that she had to cut back a bit later in.
Of course I also know a cat 3 racer who was doing fast club rides into her fifth and maybe sixth month.

I have a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 on the Jeep. That's all I need.

Before I did a SeaSucker, I would just get the rack mounts made for the car. They don't touch the paint or the glass.

I have a rack in the bodega. But I also have a Fit. The rack hasn't been used in a long, long time. A generic rack of course.

In the better late than never department, a box of 50 3M N95s arrived a few minutes ago, from Amazon. The most comfortable mask I've had the pleasure to have worn. Nice chin wrap-around, so talking should not be an issue.
Some of them will be sold off to friends less immune than I.

My bike travels INSIDE the Saturn.

We have a Saris Bones for longer trips, but I have not used it for a few years.

It's a relatively "nice" day, temperature-wise.

Sadly, there are gusting winds, and I don't feel like dealing with that carp on the way home.

I have a Yakima hitch rack that I haven't used in a very long time. If I'm taking my bike anywhere in my Explorer, I flip the middle row seats forward, and my bike fits perfectly across the width of the car, standing on the floor (front wheel off). This only works for one bike, however.

I seldom carry two bikes but when I do, I put a thick blanket between them and never had an issue. I did have a Yakima roof rack which was given to me and I put it on a Tercel 4WD wagon that I had for snow. 4 bikes and 4 riders with all their gear and that car would barely get up the hills where I lived. It was ridiculous.

My best bike-hauler was a 2000 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab pickup truck. 4 bikes. 4 people. No problem. I really liked that truck.

Current bike transportation situation; Yakima base bars with Rocky Mounts Tomahawk racks. Fits fat or skinny tires.

Having a hitch receiver installed on the SportWagen this spring. Ebikes don't go on the roof and Mrs. rjones28 can't get bikes up there.

Agreed on the heavy blanket. A couple of these should work: https://www.harborfreight.com/40-inc...ket-47262.html

I've had 4 full size pick ups, 2 SUVs, and 2 wagons since I started riding. Most of my motorcycle hauling to the desert was in my 65 Chevy pick up. 3 motorcycles and 3 guys with all our gear, gas cans, etc. That was the best car I ever had. Bought it when I was 19 and sold it when I was 38. My ex didn't like it and I wanted a new truck, so off it went. It would be cool to have it now, but I say that about a lot of cars I sold.

Just curious, how much does your fat bike weigh? Do people try to go all weight weenie on them or is it pointless?
