Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you don’t have one by mid-month I might have one for you.

They don't use real money anymore. It's by the gram now. 28 grams to an ounces, so......

Here, beer and wine sales take one license and hard liquor a different, more expensive license. Some restaurants serve "wine cocktails" which have the same alcohol as the regular cocktail except they are mixed with wine instead of liquor.

When I was in Missouri alcohol was sold in "package stores". These had no signage about alcohol and sold only alcoholic beverages. No snacks, no cigarettes, nothing.

When I was a ute and ounce was $10 and they usually put in extra. A gram of hash was also $10.
The weed now is so much stronger and I think an ounce is $400-$600 but I don't really know. I had a room mate who smoked it all day every day unless he ran out.

Haven’t ever heard of a drive up window at a bar or liquor store in Texas in the 40 years I’ve been here. Open containers in the passenger compartment has always been a big no-no.

Now, Louisiana until about the late 80s was a whole nutha thing.

In NYC in the 70s, we bought alcohol and drank in bars all through High School. I don’t recall being carded once.

Just ordered a set of cycling specific prescription glasses, the kind with the rim under the lenses. Not very expensive, even with progressive lenses.

Post that you got and how you like them after you’ve used them. I should do something like that.

It's for running FD cables along your top tube BITD when we only had bottom pull front derailleurs.

No drivethrough windows at bars, but We have drive thru liquor stores here. We had em in Wyoming too!

I always heard tales of New Orleans Drive thru daiquiris, and they'd put a little piece of Scotch tape over the straw hole so they could call it a closed container.

That’s when I ask whether I got a good deal and get huffy when people tell me I got rooked.

I have that problem too, but I find goggles too hot for cycling.
