I'm getting up early tomorrow to ride to Watertown, a town west of the Twin Cities.
The challenge?
Beat the impending winter storm.
4" to 7" are forecast for tomorrow.
32 degrees at ride time.

You can get a 75 mile ride from our house in St. Paul.
Flat as a pancake till you hit the lake, then rollers.
Fun stuff!

Got in a nice 28-30 mile ride with Abarth yesterday south of Seattle. Temps in the low 40's and very little wind. Abarth has a nice collection of C&V bikes and was on his Trek 560 while I was on my Gitane Sprint. Only took two years to get together and actually get a ride in together - but it's always nice to ride with a fellow C&V'er.

Beautiful track Miyata. The owner is a really fast rider. I've seen him doing 30+ mph on that bike many times.
My newly finished Lemond Zurich. Rode great, but the saddle was a pain in the butt.
Occupy Starbucks
It was freezing cold but sunny, can't ask for a better weather this time of year in the Pacific Northwest.

We took the tandem out today, met BF member cmolway. He'd shown me before that he could shut me down easily, but today he was towing a trailer with his son. He still shut us down.
Nevertheless we had a good day! 29.33 miles, Carlisle to Chelmesford to Carlisle to Concord to Carlisle.

I went exploring in the very poor southern part of the city, behind the airport. 30 kms in a maze from which there appeared no escape. And indeed there was only one--the way I went in. No pics. I feel fortunate to have found my way back.

It was 58 degrees in RI today, so rain or not I decided to go out. Dressed for it, but got wet. Rode 45 miles. I almost timed my ride between bands of rain but I started about 1 hour too early this morning. Pictures came out awful on my crappy phone, this is the best.
Dry docked in a clearing off Matteson road in Scituate RI.

Thanks, my wife's response when she uploaded this picture from my phone (I have people who connect me to the internets) was a little different. "Your photos get stranger and stranger! Why is there a dilapidated old sailboat in this one?" Composition, color, subject matter; an artist can't explain these things.

My bike club had their annual Christmas Ride last night. Thirty six of us in costume rolled in the streets of Kingston, spreading holiday cheer! We work with social services to deliver gifts to a few families in need and also stop by the womens shelter to deliver gifts to the children living there. A good time was had by all!
Here I am, towing a Christmas tree to be delivered to a family.
Rollin
Fun
My girlfriend and me
Santa gets thirsty
Crazy lights
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!

Short and COLD. Dayton to Beavercreek and back. I need a face mask. I did get to test the camcorder mounted to the handlebars. Pretty cool. It will be a hoot to use on TOSRV.

Not sure.... cuz I've only seen pictures once or twice. But - I think they are boobs.
Seriously, though..... those look like plaster casts of some real actual honest to God live ones - and some pretty nice ones, at that. Fun club, indeed!

I rode 37 miles today in a balmy 39 degrees. Went down a road I've ridden by a million times. Rode about 2 miles on a dirt road. 23mm are fine as long as the road is hard packed.
Ponagansett Rd
Daylight is at a premium.

Went out today. Nice 50 deg F, but a bit windy, but I had to get out of the house. You are right about "On Your Left" being a lost language. Funny thing is that it is the "cool" kids in their shiny new road bikes and nifty bike kit that usually don't say a word.

Been indoors on the hated trainer all week and got lucky: a nice day with temperatures flirting with the 50's - and on the weekend, too! (Of course, we're also supposed to get snow tomorrow. Jeez.) I took the Bob Jackson out for a forty-five mile ride through town, out into the country, along a few river bottom highways, through local small towns, and back home again. I stopped just off the town square to pose the Bob Jackson in front of a quaint little brick store front.

Winter Solstice 2011
This winter is unusually warm in RI. It was 55 degrees today! I was able to get out of work early and squeezed in a 39 mile ride.
Nathanael Greene Homestead in Coventry 1770.
https://www.nathanaelgreenehomestead.org/
A week ago I rode out to Coventry on my day off; I didn't get lost, but I couldn't find the new road I wanted to ride. So on the way back I thought I would salvage the ride by stopping at this historical site, but I was unable to find an easy way to cross the the Pawtuxet river as the Laurel street bridge has been out since the flood last spring. It was cold, so I packed it in, but vowed to come back before the year ended.
The Pawtuxet river last week.
I had to race home as the daylight failed.

Possibly the most dangerous ride I've taken recently.
Luckily, I was slightly intoxicated.

Down and back to the mailbox only today - about 25 degrees. Hoping to get the mtb out and head into the hills tomorrow with the camera. Still going to be cold but there's a lot of climbing so I should warm up just fine.

I couldn't find this thread on Sunday. I rode a metric century, the first half into a stiff wind and had trouble maintaining 20 kmph. On the return trip I was coasting at 31. Temps in the mid 80s, warmish for this time of year. The camera never crossed my mind until I was on the road. My first out of town ride in a little over a month.

I was able to do the winter soltice ride today. Left in light, came home in the dark. Doesn't help that sunset was at something like 3:50 pm EST here in NH. What's really amazing is that there is no snow on the ground and it reached 45F today. Simply astounding, but I'm not complaining.
