Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Update with the new bike. Some of my old links are dead, so I'll repost them too.

Fuji Newest 1.0 2008.

Tiagra front, 105 rear.

Loving it right now, even though it is too small.

2008 Roubaix, just bought it leftover at the closest shop for $875. I'm getting back into roadbikes after a 25 year leave. I rode a lot of bikes in the $800-$900 catagory (all I could afford). I rode Giant Defys, Giant OCRs, Felt Z100, Bianchi C2C, Cannondale Synapse. All are good bikes, but I couldn't really find a great deal on one with decent equipement groups. I tried the Roubaix because of some recommendations on the forums and I loved the way it felt, better than anything else I rode. And the dealer wanted to clear it out, so I got a bike with some carbon in the frame, and 105/Tiagra mix for the price of lower equipped bikes. I'm pumped!

2008 Fuji Aloha CF2. No mods except to replace the seat with something that was designed for a human.

Love the bike, but I only have a couple hundred miles on it. Bought it late in the season last fall. Will be spending a lot of time on it this summer.

I have a 2006 Fuji Roubaix Pro. Bought it in May 2007 for $1150, I think.

Really like it. Was definitely the best feel of the several bikes that I test rode.

I'm still riding on stock wheels and saddle. Any suggestions for reasonable priced upgrades on either? What should I look for in purchasing a saddle?

2007 Fuji Team

Not the greatest pic in the world, but you get the idea.

I figured this might be a good place to ask... does anyone know a place to buy Fuji frames online? The bike shop where I got my Fuji told me they couldn't sell me just a frame, and I'd love to buy another frame to build.

I have a 1983 Club Fuji with a Val-lite frame I picked up off a curb that someone was throwing out. I've since rebuilt the bike, keeping only the frame (which I had powdercoated gloss black) and the wheels (Ukai). I added an inexpensive carbon fork, threadless headset and stem, new handlebars, brakes, seatpost and saddle, and upgraded from downtube shifters to 7spd Sora STIs with 105 53/39 cranks, a 105 rear and ultegra front derailleur. In the end I spent about $500 or so on the upgrade for a bike that certainly isn't as light or necessarily as modern as something I could have purchased for a comparable cost, but I love the ride of the steel frame, the bike runs beautifully and I learned an invaluable amount regarding how bicycles work and are built, not to mention the fun I had doing it.

I just got my 2008 Fuji Team yesterday. I wasn't thinking about buying a CF frame, but coming across it on on sale for $999 I just couldn't pass.

2008 Fuji Team. It is pretty much stock. Light was fading out so this is not quite the mandatory "garage door" photo, but close enough.

Ihsan

PS: BTW, I have two stickers with different numbers at the bottom of the bottom bracket (one closer to the left crank and longitudinal, the other farther to the front from the BB and traverse). Is there a way to find out which one is the correct serial number? Thanks.

I drive an '08 Newest 3.0 as well! It's my first road bike ever, and I'm using it to figure out what I do/don't like and want for my next bike. Aside from some minor gear clicking that can be fixed with a tune up, the bike has treated me well. I haven't done much to it... just a computer, tools/bag, Forte Campus pedals and Diadora Ergos. I'd like to switch the saddle sometime soon though.

I bought a 2008 Fuji Cross Comp last October. It is my first "road" style bike. What a ride! I took it for its first Century yesterday, and it went quite well. The only issue I've had with the bike thus far, in 1800 miles, is the left shifter had broken a couple of times. Not fun. Seems to be a design issue, but overall it works fine.

Hey, I have a Fuji Newest 4.0 (2009 model), not too sure about the components (and not to happy about them either), color is silver with a bit of red.

I got it last fall, went on the NYC 5 Boro Bike Tour last week, and so far it's been a pleasure riding it. Shifting sucks though. And it's not that light. But then again, I didn't expect a whole lot of goodies for $500.
