I do own a grinder and I do use it daily. However, it is the compartment style so it's not ideal for the coarse grind I use in the french press. An espresso machine would be amazing but I don't have the counter space for one at the moment so it's Bodum at home or go out.

And I should clarify that I only go to Tim's or Starbucks when I'm at work. There are many excellent independent espresso bars in this town which I frequent when not at the office. Notably the one that sponsors my racing team

This little guy works great for espresso https://mypressi.com/ when coupled with a good grinder. It can be a bit much to turn the hand grinder, so I replaced the handle with a nut and use a drill to turn it. Works great! So for under $200 you can get a decent espresso setup.

Oh man, that puts our $30 plastic "espresso" machine to shame.. however it gets the job done.

For me the main thing is the steamed milk, not so much the actual coffee.

for some reason, I always get on a Dunkin donuts kick this time of year. Lots o' base mileage in the mornings, then go thru the drive-thru for a cup on the way to work. Its good.

I have managed to stay clear of the donuts. for now.

After 7 years my Bunn has died. I began using our 32 oz french press over the weekend and I am quite pleased with the results. This morning my wife had made two presses worth and filled our pump thermos by the time I got up. She's a keeper.

Haters gonna hate... but I work at home and spouse doesn't drink coffee... so I'll make a pot of strong stuff then reheat it for a couple of days. Today being Wednesday, it's day 3 coffee and is especially nasty, pretty similar to typical gas station coffee.

Ive been using an electric kettle to boil my water...probably 2 minutes. It may be possible but Ive yet to find any coffee made in a 'coffee maker' that tastes as good as a good dark roast from a french press. But Im a little picky. ymmv.

Good for you. It's important that you start early so you can have it mastered by the time race season comes around and Ex wants his coffee.

If EX is racing in my neck of the woods, I'd happily deliver. :-D

so our new studio is right next to a "mom & pop" coffee shop. They have several types of whole bean (I prefer dark roast mostly). And they brew something a little different every morning. Today I tried some Honduran for the first time (that I can remember). Possibly the best coffee I have ever tasted.

Enjoying some of the best Sumatran I've ever had. Cheesy local coffee shop but they roast their own beans and apparently know what they're doing. Mmm ...
