Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What's funny is she never made as much as I did while working but when she starts collecting SS she will make about $200 per month more, I think, because of her other pension and IRAs.

I hope to maintain the lifestyle I have. We also live pretty frugally right now and don’t try to keep up with the Joneses. Our house cost about 300k less than we could reasonably afford, our cars are paid off and we have negligible debt outside of mortgages. Those will be paid off long before retirement age. Or I hope.

My biggest fear/unknown is the cost of health care between 60, when I will almost certainly leave my current job (in 3.25 years), and 65. No idea what it would cost on the open market.

That s a major issue for us. We currently pay $30K/year for a fairly crappy policy with a high deductible. It must be budgeted for until age 65.

Why 3? After the large one is procured the rest are superfluous. SMFH.

I think it's 2 000 per person. It's a FAMILY policy. If I were single/no kids, it would be approx 1/2 that cost. Still too high.

Full disclosure, the health insurance is paid with pre-tax dollars, so the effective "cost" to me is approx 70% of 30K i.e. $21K.

Still pricey.
