Did my daily 14 yesterday but had to cut it down to 7 today. Saw an armadillo on the way home. It looked like it was sitting there thinking about life (and the potential loss of life if it tried to cross the bike path).

Another perfect day to ride a bike here in Florida. The wife and I did a 22 mile ride on the Pinellas Trail from Tarpon Springs, south, to Dunedin and back. Nice lunch in Dunedin at the Box Car Coffee Shop that sits alongside the trail. Killed two birds with one stone; a great ride while getting our taxes done. Good news - Sam owes us for a change.

Another 18 miles this evening and probably the last biking for the week. Rain and snow starts tomorrow evening. It was 50 degrees, overcast and blustery. Will probably hit the gym tomorrow night.

My second ride since heart surgery (valve replacement)... took my brand spanking new 21mm Carpentier-Edwards bio prosthetic aortic valve on a 4.88 mile ride. Seems to be working just fine, although I did try to talk the surgeon into a titanium or carbon fiber device.
Anyway.. sunny, slight breeze, and upper 50's. I only ride on days I don't have cardiac rehab (those nurses are slave drivers!), and the weather is ok... so those kinds of days have been few and far between. Sounds like the rest of the week will be lousy weather and I have two days with rehab... I am happy to say that riding, even with the two hills I need to climb, is easier than the rehab sessions.
Once the weather breaks (and tomorrow is the first day of Spring) I hope to ride more frequently and increase the mileage.

I must say that riding my bike in the sunshine was one of the things I visualized immediately following the surgery during my early recovery, so I have now done just that. (It was cloudy on the day of my first ride way back on 9 March.

Enough...

Think Spring...

Rained out for now. I have to see what the rest of the day brings, but the weatherman isn't hopeful for anything but wet stuff today. Changes of heavier thundershowers are going up as the day goes on.

We're with John_V. rained out for the moment, sitting in our motorhome in Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey, Fl on the first day of our bike riding experience. Today we were going to ride the Legacy Trail and the Venice Waterway trails. Looks like we should have stayed home today as it's not raining in the Ocala area.... just yet. Oh well. Had to get reservations at the parks and rv campgrounds a few weeks ahead and it turns out that the Sunshine State is proving otherwise at least this week

81 miles today as part of training for the upcoming centuries, 4/20 & 5/11. Not fast, but did 81 miles in just under 5 hours riding time and 5hrs 20, or 22, minutes total time(stops at stop signs, bathroom, eating, replenishing water--most of my eating was while riding, but the PBJ & banana sandwiches would be tough while riding).

Yeah, a quick 20 before rush hour started to make it unbearable. Got a late start, and it was a little cold and windy.....but that Domane Six overcomes all. A lot of fun!

A very nice day and a pretty good 35 mile MUP ride today. Had to fight some pretty strong winds this morning and the severe pollen alert didn't help my sinuses any. Not my best time for this ride, but a ride is a ride.

Recovery ride--16 miles, easy pedaling except when facing a nasty headwind(about ½ the time), flurries, 40º with a windchill of 32.

35 miles and another high pollen count, windy day. Even after taking a Zyrtec this morning, my sinuses were draining like a faucet. Don't know what it was about today's ride, but the second lap just flat wore me out.

Got two short rides in today.
One to load up my panniers with groceries and one short joy ride/beer run.
The wind was only blowing 10 to 15 mph today, was kicking 20 to 35 mph most of the week.
The forecast is looking better after this weekend.

Thanks, Barry. I hope to be able to post a ride tomorrow... should be sunny, upper 40s, little wind. Today was too windy and wife had other plans anyway. According to the nurse at rehab, I have two weeks to go, so as a birthday present (68) I'll graduate from cardiac rehab.
Just today I received my implant card from the hospital, so I am a card carrying member of the "club."

Snow is forcast for Sunday into Monday, but I hope by mid to late next week there will finally be some Spring weather.

Take care,

Pete

Well, the weatherman was wrong! Had predicted rain and snow for today but it was partly cloudy and 50 degrees this afternoon so I got in 30 miles on the local bike paths and city streets. Very moderate winds and a pretty nice if somewhat cool day for riding. Saw about half a dozed other die hard riders who shared my desire to get in some miles before this weekends rain and snow.

Had the day off for my birthday, so did a ride on and around the northern part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. 78 miles, 7300 feet of climbing. I did the climb up to the parkway from Crabtree Falls last year, and I don't remember it hurting this bad. Must be the extra 25 pounds I'm carrying this time

Rode a Metric Century today. Age 56, in +98 degree heat with high humidity. Actually 114Km in 6 hours.
Good ride, worn out. Chbar Ampov is a small village 3 or 5 Km from my home.

Did 43 miles this afternoon dealing with some wind...not as bad a wind as on Wednesday when I did 81 miles , but the wind still made it tougher.
