Mine is a throwback to Unix username length limitations eons ago. It's my last name with the vowels removed.

Newbie
For about ten years I worked in IT in high level corporate mail systems and PIM data. I had a few promotions and had a great career. I never used a pen. it was all mobile devices, email, computer stuff, hence the name. Always interested in the latest tech. The company shut down our local offices and I was laid off. I decided to go back to school. Two year auto body course and I now paint cars. Worlds away from when i created this username.

@Honusms, I love cicadas and the sounds they make, too!
I chose my username years ago because it's never taken, so I can have it wherever I go. Now don't you all start stealing it!

I love pulp detective novel's , crime stories , etc . Marlowe is my favorite author and Sam Spade is the best of the best fictional detectives , Mike Hammer follows a close second though.

Early 70’s living in Del Mar California and riding a lot on my PX10, sew ups don’t you know. A certain college student thought it would be fun to get as many free magazine subscriptions as possible. Used to be easy, fill out the post card with some fake information and mail it in. I needed a name and settled on Joe Bikerider. The magazines poured in. Lots of fun. It all kind of fell apart when two guys in suits knocked at the door one afternoon. FBI? No, they were salesmen from a local truck driving school that Joe had apparently filled out a card for! Pretty embarrasing. So I dialed back on the magazines but the name lives on. And I got rid of the sew ups also after I blew out two within 100 yards of my house. $20 each was way more than a college student could afford. Clement
real silk don’t you know. The PX10 lives on.

This is my second user name, the first one became inop after one of the software upgrades.
Stumped the tech guy to the point, suggested I just drop that identifier.
That is why the name, a second chance, less the proper punctuation that is too difficult to access now compared to decades ago.
be seeing you.

mine goes back to the mid-eighties and a video game called Gauntlet. Friends and i would ride up to the local 7-eleven and play it, i usually played the Elf in the game , and when we would hit the high score i would reverse it for Fle. then now its added on with my last name Slider

Texaspandj stands for Texas Pride and Joy. I was a full time musician and the name of our band was Pride and Joy. However once the Internet started happening we discovered there was another band with the same name but in california, so to distinguish us from the other (I think our face book and tweeter all that type of stuff) we started doing Texaspandj. Years later we had slowed the band thing down and I went back to teaching martial arts I decided to use it, little did I know I would remain on this forum and enjoy it so much. I was just looking for info on my three Ironman bikes.
My avitar is a painting my brother did that we also used for our independent record label "Little boy blue".
It's a family thing with my eldest son lead vocals and guitar and my younger son on drums and me not knowing what I'm doing on bass, just us three. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SvhCinKyitQ

My user name is a little family joke. Not a funny one though.
About 12 years ago I was snapping photos of my mom and her new kitten winding around her ankles and joked about her cankle cat -- those swollen calves that merge into ankles -- because she wasn't taking care of herself. I know mom's doctor had been fussing at her about that, not taking her meds, etc.
She pointed to my feet and said I had the same problem, which scared the crap out of me. My legs were swollen like balloons. I'd always been in good shape until a 2001 car wreck busted up my back and neck. I went from 165 lbs to 205 and was showing early warning signs of congestive heart failure, which runs in the family. Both my grandparents died with congestive heart failure and COPD, although they were in their 80s. But they tended to eat too much junk, sugary and salty foods.
So I got us both on a better diet, less salt, making sure mom took her meds, etc., and gradually got her weight down from nearly 200 to around 135 lbs, and mine down to 175 lbs, over a period of years, just with a healthy diet. No big sacrifices, just plenty of good healthy food to eliminate the cravings for sugar and junk carbs.
I was still walking on a cane until 2014 but by 2015 decided to try riding a bike again. Got hooked, got healthier, dropped to 160 and have stayed there.
But I kept the canklecat moniker to remind myself not to take it for granted. Especially now when I'm temporarily off the bike (busted shoulder from getting hit by a car). I'm still watching my weight to be sure it stays under 165 lbs.
The avatar is just Dr. Zoidberg, my favorite character from Futurama. Why not Zoidberg?
The catch phrase under my avatar -- "Me duelen las nalgas" -- was the name of our San Diego Navy hospital bicycle club back in the 1970s-'80s. Fun stuff, riding around SoCal and Baja organized and informal long group rides. Still my favorite kind of riding, just a long leisurely cruise with friends.

I thought ollo was a good pictograph for BF. Found it also worked for shotgun forums. Later, during BF growing pains/software changes, it wasn't being recognized. I had 2 bikes then, so changed to ollo_ollo. Don

I started on the 'net in 1993. ATT gave me one email address with my dial-up account, so I named it phil for me and bob for my wife (AKA Bobbie). I was like philbob14. By the time I forgot my password irrevocably, I had to go with philbob57..

The reason for that is that Latakia tobacco is actually cured in the smoke of burning camel dung. And that indeed is the reason why no no no no I don't smoke it no mo.

DIM is a pun on my name.
My avatar (which I really should upgrade for clarity's sake) is of a fish fossil I found on a mountain biking trip in college...
I attended the University of Utah back in the '80s, and a friend-of-a-friend who joined/ guided us on that particular trip was doing her master's in paleontology (she later went on to work for the natural history museum), and led us to a washout somewhere southeast of Castle Dale where- if we were lucky- we could do a little surface collecting. Over the course of an afternoon of tapping on bits of yellow shale we found some leaves and a couple of small fish, the one that became my avatar being one of them. I had it cleaned up in a rock shop a while later, and it's been on display in my living room ever since.

My father had a Mead Ranger when he was in college, most likely a 1923. When I purchased my 1924 Ranger, my grail bike, it became obvious. I was MeadMan2.

This is fun! Very nice to learn a little more about the guys and gals behind the avatars.
About my user name, well, I'm half Iranian and grew up in Nigeria, Africa where "oyibo" is something you'll hear all the little kids yelling everytime they see a foreigner/White guy. Was making an instagram account and that was the first thing that came to mind.
About my avatar, it's my first and only C&V bike, a 70s-ish Alain Michel. I've been working on it a long time and have very little to show for it... stem and seatpost are frozen solid and I've tried pretty much everything short of caustic soda. In fact my first post on this forum was about that bike... but I haven't updated it in ages as I have nothing new to report Restoring an old bike can be so haaaaard...

This is a fun thread - I usually don't try to figure out username meanings but try to pronounce them phonetically.
"tiredhands" is something I use a handful of places. I've got an undiagnosed wrist or nerve issue that makes my hands susceptible to cramping, along with joint pain. Used to be real bad when I was overweight and working in food service - I couldn't barely hold a wrench or play guitar. Now it's just the joints and some clumsiness.
It also kinda sounds profound without really meaning anything.
I'm not the same person as Tired Hands the brewer. I chose that name years before I ever heard of this guy. It's a weird doppleganger situation - I used to homebrew and we have the same tastes in esoteric and experimental beers, obscure references to occult philosophies, and the heavy metal/horror aesthetic in music and art. Real bizarre.
Avatar is currently and will remain a Trek of some kind. Gotta stay loyal to the one that brought you to the dance.

I picked my username simply because it was short and not used by anyone else; my avatar is me in 2006.

No one cares
It's an old indian term translated into english from sounds passed down through generations of spoken language within the Nermernuh tribes we know as the Comanche. The original meaning was likely lost to the ages ,but when first recorded by the white man the user was seemingly using it as a term to describe a colleague with an abnormally large wang.
Just kidding. I used to really like Val Kilmer in the movie Tombstone.
