I sold three that I don't ride very often. I would have ridden the Ross quite a bit once I finished it, but I've still got 3 top-of-the-line Gen-1 ATBs on the active list. And most importantly, I saved my `48 Raleigh Clubman. Now I've got room for new projects.

It's all good, as they say.

Out fantastic spring weather continues so I got out on one of my regular routes for 34 miles today.

Yeah, I grew up in Southern CA and my family had season tickets during the Magic & Kareem heyday of the 80s. However, my allegiances shifted somewhat after I moved to the bay area in the mid-90s. I was cheering for GSW last round, then cheered for the Lakers until they got beat by Denver. I'm happy to watch good basketball, whatever the matchup. Re Austin Reaves, yes, always love to see an undrafted free agent succeed. An Jokic continues to be incredible, too.

Not me, but my kid. Thomas rode to school today for the first time as a freshman. It's only three and a half miles away, but he left early enough to make it five or six. Probably one of two or three kids in a school of 1700 that would ride a bike to class..

Yeah, he's sprouted up a bunch in the last couple of years. I measured him a couple of months ago, and he was right at six feet tall. Not sure how much more growing he has left, vertically.

I had the day off of work, so I was able to squeeze in two rides today. The morning was gray with a blanket of drizzle, but it turned into a pleasant, cool, sunny day with a light breeze and parade of puffy clouds. Earlier this morning, I went out for some errands on my Gitane Gran Tourisme, including a stop at the local bike co-op (picked up some cotter pins, a new Rolls saddle, and a pair of pedals with XL clips and nice Christophe leather straps). On the way back, I took a side alley with several murals. I had @botty kayer on my mind.



Edit: Looking at at this first photo above, I realize I missed an opportunity to have the peace-sign lady looking like she's riding the Gitane.



Later in the afternoon, I rode a hilly 28-mile loop, 2,380’ elev., into the Berkeley Hills on my LOOK. As I've mentioned before, I've owned this bike since I was 14. It's probably my most prized possession. It never disappoints. From my home in the flats, I rode up Tunnel Road climb--a meandering, just shy of 5-miles, with a relatively easy grade and sweeping views of the bay.



A jaunt through Tilden Park and environs...

And finally rounded out the ride with a stretch along the beach via the Bay Trail.

I rode my Sequoia 650b conversion to breakfast this morning at Capital View Café. Despite the syntax error, (the location at the top of the hill on Smith Avenue has a perfect view of our state capitol), this is the best diner in Saint Paul, IMHO, and I really wish they would open for dinner.



Unfortunately, they have only ever been open for breakfast and lunch in the thirty years I've lived here. But every meal is a treat!



Here we have the Breakfast Quesadilla with Pico de Gallo and house-made hot salsa. I always eat half, and box the rest to take home to Mrs. C. I surprised her with it this morning, she was pleased!

Taking inspiration from a few of you on this thread, I think I will head out later this afternoon, when the light is just right, and hunt down some murals ala botty kayer. We don't have near as many as London or Berkely, and some are in dangerous neighborhoods, but that just adds to the adventure, right? (Famous last words...)

What do you have going on there, Neal? 11 speed Campagnolo shifters and a 8/9 speed XTR derailleur? And what cassette?

Yup, Shimergo setup with 11-speed Campy ergo brifters and a 9-speed Shimano drivetrain (XTR RD and 9-speed cassette with 32t max cog). Works well with plug and play though I need to be sure the cable tension is tight for smooth shifts.

Wow. That is slick. So campy 11 speed levers change at the same ratio as 9 speed Shimano(if I'm understanding correctly)?

Not even close, I'm afraid... I went out on a mural hunt last night, and could only find one that wasn't in shadow and/or obscured by a lot of ground clutter. Also, the streets and parking lots in my hometown are much dirtier and uglier than the ones we see from the UK and elsewhere. The neighborhood is either Latin Kings or MS-13 territory, and the bag you see behind the basket on my handlebar contains my Para-Ordinance 14-45. Isn't it the Boy Scout motto to "Be Prepared"?
