After a test ride this past weekend I had a short list of maintenance items to address in getting my bike ready for the new season, one of them was finally doing away with the "dork disc".

I was going to leave it alone, but it quickly became dirty and was a hassle to clean so I decided to just get rid of it for aesthetics sake.

7000 miles is impressive & without a puncture.

Fitted the 28mm Continental Grand Prix4000s II this morning, they look,,,,, big! And comfy! And weigh 258grams!







Going to have to cycle to work this afternoon now to get the feel for them, they look sooooooo,,,,, comfy. Probably wont even notice going over the dead road kill badgers on the way back tonight!

The rack's "spine" is not an optimal round shape, so the light bracket is not squeezing all around it, but it doesn't rattle or move at all.

I put Michelin Protek Cross Max tires on my DS. I knew with the first pedal they were far superior to the Bontrager LT2s that came on my bike. Took all the harshness out of my ride and they have less roll resistance even though they are sized 40 up from the size 38 LT2s.

Took it to Performance Bike to have new pedals (Exotic platforms) installed and brakes adjusted.

Added one of these little suckers. Super solid and much better than my old clip on one. I wish the Escape 3 bar stem was a bit more level though.

Put new Ergon grips and DMR v8 pedals. Wow, these pedals are so much better than the plastic ones that came with the bike. They are nice! The Ergons are nice too!

Cleaned my hybrid, lubed the chain, removed last winters' salt, re attached my fenders properly and did some minor adjustments.

I gave it to a stunning, very young blonde woman (my daughter!) She knows how to live right- her main ride is an '88 Peugeot steel road bike but she needed an urban cruiser to navigate through Hollywood's (CA) cracked streets and potholes, for her errands and friends. I have a set of new wheels and nice NOS Deore shifters to put on it when she's wrung it out a bit.



A new bike blew into my life and it has changed my game. An '89 Trek 660 with a beautiful 2x7 Ultegra2 gruppo and original System 2 accessories, plus gorgeous Ambrosio d'Italia rims. It flies! I put a 35mm riser bar on it and a Ritchey shorty stem, so at a quick glance it looks a little like a 'fixie'. If you think about it, fixies have evolved into pretty practical configurations for urban riding. I still need gears and brakes tho'... I wouldn't call it a "hybrid" exactly but it's a blast to ride.

I swapped the IsoZone handlebar on the 7.4 FX with a Bontrager Race Lite bar. The best thing about the RL bar is that the Ergon grips fit nicely. Previously I kind of jerry rigged the Ergons on the IsoZone, it worked OK, however there was movement on the bar end if I pulled too hard. Beyond the grips, I did not like the "feel" of the IsoZone bar. Something did not feel right.

I could have gone with any handlebar but did not want to go crazy. The RL is a few grams lighter and reasonably priced. The LBS was surprised by my request but took good care of me. I took the bike for a ride this evening with the new bar and felt great.

Thanks. I just kind of gave it a full once over. Threw some polish on the Paint and Rims, repacked all the bearings, tightened up the spokes, new Saddle. etc. It's crazy fun. It's been a great incentive to get me out on the road again. I'd been kind of slacking off during the Winter.

I've been out on it every day since we added the motor. It's really nice to have it on the hills around here. Let's me keep a steady pace and I actually seem to be getting a better workout as the motor adds some incentive with the fun factor. Really glad I did it, and it's been nice to get "Bianca" back out on the road again. I've always had a soft spot for that bike.

This past weekend:
- installed cateye tl-ld155-r tail light to compliment the cateye el-135 headlight i put on the bike
- i am super picky about bike bags and have been looking for a top tube bag similar to the schwinn accessory bag (https://i5.walmartimages.com/dfw/dce0...41c6578.v1.jpg). i was at sports authority over the weekend and saw a waist pack that was the perfect size for my wallet + iphone 6+ so i plan to hack this thing up and turn it into a top tube bag

I put on a new bottle cage and replaced the stock 700x38 tires for 700x32 which I think will be better for commuting. Can't wait for the morning ride!

I cleaned and repacked the bearings in the hubs of my Roam 2 this past week.

Today I swapped the stock 56cm wide flat bars for some 64cm wide, 30mm riser bars. While it wasn't a huge change, the new bars made the bike noticeably more comfortable and steady. After the swap, I took it for a 8 mile ride and it felt great!
