I went from a Giant Cypress hybrid (an excellent starter bike for the first 1200 miles and which I still ride some) to beautiful Italian steel -- the Tommasini Carbo-Fire.
Triple-butted Ultrafoco steel and Carve CF seat stays. Full Ultegra (just switched to 12-27 from 12-23 'cause I'm a wimp). DA hubs w/ Open Pro rims and Michelin Carbons. Stella stem and bar.
It's opened up a whole new world. Now I at least have a chance of keeping up on club rides.

Here is my Cinelli.......
A fairly new Super Corsa frame, kind of dated by todays standards, but it gets me where I want to go!
Campy Record Ergo 8sp w/ SRP titanium upgrade kit throughout. The stem is an older Cinelli 1/Record, Look 'Worlds' pedals, and the wheels are Veloflex sew-ups.

When I went to buy the Zondas, I looked for the '02/'03 versions with the 20 spoke, G4 front wheel. The older version Zondas are lighter than the '04/'05 version, and have all aero spokes like the Eurus..

Although "nose-up" saddle guys will cringe at the seat tilt, but I'm with you on it. (it's your nuts not theirs)
Those handlebars are perfect and good example why "ergo bars" don't offer any advantage. Although it does look semi-ergo, sort of like the Kestrel EMS Pro bars.

Pretty much my opinion is if your handlebars are at the same level as your seat you pretty canceled out everything high performance about your bike. It's so much harder to pedal with the bars up.

well i havn't yet posted my ride, so here she is. a little on the "cheap" side....but i'm on my way to my next steed. in case you're wondering, yes, its a bloody huge frame, and yes, i would lose my ba!!s if i fell on the top tube because the frame is too big for me, but i still love the bike because its given me a lot for my modest investment. recently i've added the new bar tape and the speedplays, which are great.

Maybe because they like to get into the same position on their bike as they have in their recliner in front of the TV set.
There are recumbents for that. Even with a B17 and high bars you just can’t get the same feel with a roadbike as with a recumbent or the TV chair.
Already at 20mph 80% of your effect is to overcome the air resistance, so it’s not exactly recommendable to stay in a non aero position.
Well I don’t know. Maybe it is just posing.

Flip the integrated stem / bar would look kind of odd, and my stems are 0º.
Ok. Enough BS from me for now. What I tried to say is that bars level with saddle might not be the most efficient riding position, but there again. Nobody asked me. But if they did……..
