Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I started out this morning going back and forth in my head about whether to go up Old La Honda (3.1 miles, 1300 feet, 7.4% average grade). By the time I hit the turnoff, I was in a "what the heck, why not?" mood, so I took the turn and did the climb. Beat my best (recent) time by 35 seconds. I was feeling so good when I got back down I went ahead with a long ride. 65.5 miles. Now I'm covered for 'Ride Your Age' for this year, even though my birthday is in November.

Riding along Arastradero, I saw some wildlife....

Good ride early, then off to NJ to visit my folks.

Although I did 3 rides this week, I am nowhere near the podium. There are some serious cyclists in Addiction.

One of these weeks I'll blow up the leader board.
You'll see. You'll all see. And you'll rue the day.

I'm making proper bread (not sourdough) for the first time in several months. We'll see how it goes. The yeast is expired.

That's not what I meant when I said live a little.
Let it all hang out.

UPDATE: The bread rose, but not to the desired height. The yeast jar had been open for many months, and the use by date was April. #StudiesInFungi

Actually my left knee is still pretty sore and really stiffens. Old bones heal slow.

This week will be light also, unfortunately. Have a short trial Tuesday/Wednesday, college graduation Thursday, and then move the rest of the kid’s stuff home.

The brisket I promised my wife for Mother’s Day was an abject failure. Started this morning and the thing is still cooking. Had to improvise for dinner.

Nope. I watched Quigley Down Under a little while ago. About ready to call it a night but 20:10 is a little early I guess.
