Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have about an inch of standover, and my torso is long compared to my legs. It's comfortable, but I think I will get a smaller frame next time. I don't really like the compact geometry...I have a Trek with it, and never ride it.

I love the colors on the Allez. The wheels and bar tape just complete the package.

There is something very "right" about a yellow bike.

Here is a bad picture of my (NOS) '86 Cannondale. I was given the bike for free by the original owner in November. He bought the bike brand new at a bike shop near Mid-Ohio, rode it 100-200 miles, and then left it in his dad's garage. When I got her, she was in near pristine condition. The paint had one small chip in it, and was like brand new, but the headset needed adjusting, and she needed new tires, bar tape and saddle. I picked up some new bar-end shifters, and I now have some Continental 700x20's along with a Selle San Marbo ASPide and Shimano PD-R535 pedals. The bike will preobably recieve a new wheelset, headset, and paint removal over the winter, among other smaller things.

My baby, MBK Prospeed, I really think I need some new wheels but my first mission is a new saddle. God the stock one hurts.

My Pinarello Opera

Here's my Pinarello Opera as photographed on my ride through IOWA on RAGBRAI 2006. Got to meet Lance and everything. Love this bike. Carbon and Steel, Ksyrium SSC sl's, Modolo Curvissimo bars, Mavic SSC brakes. Beats the hell out of the Trek Madone I bought and sold in 2005.

My recent aquisition: a Tommasini Diamante

I just got this Tommasini at a local sports store! I wanted an Italian bike with chrome and pantographed parts, and could not believe it when I saw this 1990 Tommasini with only 200 miles on it. Chromed and lugged frame, paint is perfect, Mavic wheels, Campy drive train (might be Athena?). It's heavier than my Pinarello, but it rides like a dream. Plus, I got it for next to nothing!

2006 CUBE comp SL Road. All stock, no bars to flip! Just straight, like a mountain bike (but road tires/wheels/gearing). I'm usually 18+ mph more than 80% of the time.

I see it more as the synthesis of old and new. The Centurion looks very nice and very together.

Just thought I would post these pics here as well. I also started a new thread to brak about the new bike, so you might find the same pics there as well.

Waterford R-33 Steel frame
Dura-Ace components
Ritchey WCS cockpit and headset
American Classic 420 wheels
Fizik Aliante Ti saddle

My new prized possession.

I just bought a new bike. I wanted something CF and was told that the BMC had a ride that was amazine and put the power down well. I took my bike guys advise and bought one. HAd it built with full Durace and took it out this weekend. OMG! It rides amazine. My best friend has a Giant Full CF bike with Durace also and although his bike is lighter, my bike rides much nicer. Even he agreed. Just wanted to share that. My bike was built by Marty at https://www.thebicyclelane.com/ . He fit me for my bike and did a great job setting it up.

My Neo-Classic '83 Caldaro: 53cm lugged Columbus steel, a mixed Campy gruppo (Chrous ergo levers, Record crankset, Centaur calipers, BB, and derailleurs). I had Steve Rex build me the wheelset (Mavic OPs on Centaur hubs) and respace the rear triangle to 130mm. It rides like it's alive.

Pinarello Steel

The ride on the Pinarello is very smooth. The carbon rear stays, fork, steerer tube and hadlebars make it very comfortable. I put 500 miles on it in 7 days a few weeks back, and I still wanted to keep riding. It's only a few ounces heavier than my stock Madone 5.2 was, but there's only one Pinarello on my group ride. Mine! I have seen more Pinarellos on Ebay lately. I got a great deal on mine there a few months back. Good luck.

Beauty. I am building a CR1 Team Issue as we speak. How are you liking the ride? Wish I had your budget for the components...how much does that baby weigh? Nice vista too btw!
