Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

@ supernoid:

Flip. Also fix the bar angle. It doesn't look like it's straight.

Otherwise nice looking bike. Does he make any carbon road frames? His website has been down for a while now

Karbona 50mm tubulars. The decals were kinda cheesy so I just peeled them off.

I'm planning on straightening the bar angle, not sure on flipping just yet. Is that mainly for looks or ? Also, https://fisherbikes.com/ they make 1 full Carbon the Chronus line and the Ion is a hybrid alum/carbon. The Rail that I have has carbon forks which was a nice bonus. I'm fairly certain that the Fisher line is just going away and soon you'll see Trek bikes stamped Gary Fisher Collection or something like that. Perhaps https://fisherbikes.com/ has been undergoing maintenance for the migration but who knows.

Once I make some changes to my bike over the coming weeks I'll update with better pics.

edit. Sorry for the high contrast, I didn't have time to retake the overexposed shots and quickly photoshop'd them. Also, yes I know I have a few more stickers to remove
maybe we'll run into one another at the SART, if you ever ride that trail...sweet bike...congrats!

Thanks. I actually live right across the street from Yorba Regional Park so I simply just hop on my bike and cross into the trail Its my main stay for my current riding experience. I'm usually clad in black mainly, I'm waiting a bit before spending more money for gear. I'm sure we've probably already passed each other once or twice.

Disposable income, and honestly (if you're talking about me) I'm transitioning from one hobby to another. I used to do long distance runs but developed bad runners knee. Its healed but it'll flair so my serious running had to come to an end (which is ok). With a 9 month old baby I hardly have time to justify driving to the gym, working out and driving back. I live across the street from a great trail and was able to justify spending the money for my bike by cancelling my gym membership and picking it up as my new means of exercise.

I honestly started out with a hybrid, road it 2 weeks and realized that it wasn't fast enough, aggressive enough and that I was getting obsessed with the hobby very fast. I paid the difference to upgrade (within 30 days) and haven't looked back.

But ultimately, it comes down to disposable income and a decent job.

edit. Also, one of those awesome fandangled wives who says, "Get what you want." o_O

Its just quite embarassing when i ride my beaterbike and call it road biking! (90's schwinn supersport, for those interested. Not sure what year)

Craigslist, and usually listed for prices almost exactly like new, only to find that people dont want to pay for a used "new" bike. So they eventually drop some. I see a ton of listings saying "I only rode this 3 times", for bikes from current or prior model year.

My new bike:

And the blog that tells the story behind building it and having a replacement for my stolen bike just weeks before our half-ironman.

lol ... well considering my addictive personality I hardly doubt I'll be giving up on the hobby anytime soon. I've dedicated myself to the hobby for keeping in shape, canceling gym memberships etc..

That bike looks a little small for you. Nevertheless, it's a great bike.
