So this morning I started on epic KOM. Had no idea what this was and an hour went by I still wasn’t at the top.
At one point this guy gets next to me and stars trying to talk to me through the messenger thing. I’m doing zwift on my ipad and I can’t even reach it while i’m on the bike so I couldnt respond. He kept telling me to go settings and turning something off to make it easier to pedal. I couldn’t comprehend why he kept telling me this. What is the point of climbing in zwift if you make it easy?
Anyways, after about 6 attempts of talking to me and me not responding he disappeared. The last mile of that climb btw sucks. 16-20 percent grade.

If you hit grades that steep, you must have gone up to the radio tower. I think that I've only done that two or three times, but I absolutely smashed my last effort (for me, at least) and haven't felt the need to tackle it again.

I usually sprinkle my privates with broken glass and hammer them a meat tenderizer, but maybe I'll try a Zwift century on my next birthday. Got through half a podcast and a movie yesterday, which took me to about two hrs. That was plenty.

Trainer Difficulty. It doesn't make it easy, it just effectively makes your gearing range wider - you still have to put in the same amount of Work to get to the top. IOW, if you have a 11-25t cassette and a 50/34 or whatever, there's no way that you could sit and spin up a 16% grade. Decreasing trainer difficulty allows you to still hit/come close to your desired cadence with the gearing that you have on hand.
If you hit grades that steep, you must have gone up to the radio tower. I think that I've only done that two or three times, but I absolutely smashed my last effort (for me, at least) and haven't felt the need to tackle it again.

I put the 11-34 on the trainer. I left the 11-25 out incase you still wanted it.

At my boss's boss's all hands, he said "I know you all have heard all the news about layoffs at the big tech companies. Great for them - we're hiring. We need a bunch more people do to all the work we got funded for next year."
Of course, they want me to fly in January.

What's the word on VeloBuild?
Perusing their website, and running some numbers, you could put together a carbon "aero" frame, integrated cockpit, SRAM Force AXS, carbon wheels, and other components for about $2,800. Seems like it would be a fun build, especially with a custom paint job. Weight would be no more than the new Madone SLR based on my rough calculations. No frame warranty, but for the cost of the frame, that wouldn't be a big deal.

Century on Zwift = self-flagellation.

I might do a metric some time this offseason. With a B group on a flat course yesterday, I averaged something like 43kmh. I think that I could manage that for 2:20 or so.

Plenty of people out there that like them. My ego just can’t do it. I know if I did this and built the bike, after about a month I would only be thinking about replacing the frame to something “notable”. I have issues.

I have no idea what Uber preztal is, but I don't do rideshare much
And you'll never catch me doing a Zwift century on my birthday, or any other day, unless there's money involved

I did 2:40 or thereabouts a couple of times last year. Three might be within my capability with my best shorts and something exceptionally good to occupy my brain. A century, nuh-uh.
