As some here know, my son is a power lifter and routinely dead lifts and squats ~625#. Well, he said he started a dead lift and noticed his form was a little off but kept going. His elbow area “exploded.” I took him to an emergency orthopedist this morning who confirmed torn tendon(s) requiring surgery as soon as possible. They showed him sonograms of both of his arms and even he could see the devastation in his damaged arm. Like any amateur athlete, he’s devastated. He had several meets lined up this Spring.

Yes. Biceps tendon at a minimum. He's in quite a bit of pain in both the bicep and the forearm. He sees the surgeon Tuesday and surgery is Wednesday. I'll tell him he's going to be stronger next year. He needs all of the encouragement that he can get. He's pretty depressed this morning.

Bill Murray groundhog day Jeep ad has a minor amount of eFatbike action: this clip has it twice, with behind-the-scenes clips interspersed the second time around.

Yeah. Whenever I’ve taken pain meds the most noticeable effect has been dull thinking. I still have nearly the entire supply left from my thumb surgery over a year ago. Took them for maybe 2 days and not the number/day I was prescribed.

Still fooling around with this ancient camera. Took it to the bike path today for a couple hours of spinning, shooting, and snacking.
There is this tree I thought made a good shot.
The path passes within view of Six Flags Magic Mountain. Don't like amusement parks myself.

Oh man... Deadlift is my least favorite lift, but straps have helped. This is eye opening though. I hope he heals well.

There is a swap meet going on over there at the sight of the Saugus Speedway, a 1/3 mile asphalt oval track which was closed in 1995 after residents complained about the noise. It was a race track since the 30s but as the area around was built up, came the sniveling. I went there first in 1965 when my friend's uncle took us in his new 65 Mustang. It was quite an experience.

I did fake ride today. It's been over a week. It was ok. Need to get back on the horse and stay there.

There was a drag strip near here where my friends and I could ride to on our bikes and watch the races for free from the overpass on the highway. edit: I looked it up and it closed in 1969. I'm old.

It's beautiful here in NorCal today! I took the Litespeed out for the 4th Sunday ride in as many weeks. It really feels sorted now. I seem to have gotten rid of the creak/click, by going through the chainring bolts one more time and finding one that took 1/16 of a turn before stopping. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that none of them will crack - stupid alloy chainring bolts! I'm thinking of getting a 12-28 cassette to have another gear for hills, but the 12-25 just works so well!
I'll have to do some back-to-back comparisons, but it seems to me that it accelerates like the Battaglin while being comfy like the Ritchey. I need to get those Dura Ace-hubbed wheels rebuilt, though my mismatched-but-doesn't-look-mismatched wheelset is working really well. In a world of Angry Bees, the freehub is eerily quiet.
OH! the wildflowers are getting started. The Little Orange Bastards are blooming!
And, of course, California Poppies, seen here in two color variations:

Im sorry to hear this. I hope the surgery goes smoothly and it doesn’t lead to him having to stop doing what he loves.

Today was another one of those days where no matter what direction I was going I had a head wind. The last 5 miles were a joke. The wind got so bad I almost got gave up in frustration. I was visibly pissed. The stupid part, looking at the flag poles the last five indicated no wind, but it was def there.
First time I rode a bike to failure my legs were toast. I imagine sleeping is going to be rough tonight, leg pain plus most likely restless legs.

Almost every motorsports venue in Southern California has closed. Most for development of housing or commercial properties. There used to be a place called Indian Dunes behind Magic Mountain. It had 3 motocross tracks, (not sure on that number) a paved sports car track, a dirt flat track, and a sandwash/motorcycle play area with hill climbs. I could leave work early, go home and load the bike, and get out there for a couple hours of weekday fun. You could even ride on the tracks when there was no racing. It's where the helicopter crashed during the filming of the Twilight Zone movie.

There were Peoria folks on the boat with us. They were very happy not to be in Peoria last week.

I wanted 60, but I had to stop at multiple stop lights which caused my body temperature to start to go down, doesn’t really make a difference my legs wouldn’t have been able to go another 10 miles.
